[00:16] Star84: hopefully you mistyped the version number, 11.10 is EOL long ago. [00:27] .10 looks like it's not even LTS [00:27] not that LTS would last that long even if it was [00:32] oops, 21.10 [00:32] the most recent one, sorry [00:57] not a typewriter... hmm... wonder if it's talking about TTYs :) [01:06] Since upgrading to Impish, I've been having a problem where all the background windows stop getting redrawn until I move the foreground window over them (or click on the desktop background). Any ideas on where I can start to debug this? [02:07] where are the icons for the default kubuntu theme stored? [02:17] what is the proper way to mount a network drive, I keep mounting and getting everything good except the user wrights are root and I cant do anything except open files [02:19] its so maddening that you cant get the nice white kubuntu logo in the "breeze dark" theme [02:19] It must be stored somewhere odd [02:20] also is anyone elses xdg-open completely broken? [04:09] Okay pretty sure that turned out to be a bad USB stick [04:11] Star84: Don't bother with this old tech, install ventoy on your usb stick and then just copy paste iso files on it, on boot you have a nice list to choose from which iso to load the os [04:11] https://www.ventoy.net/ [04:12] Ooooh! That was an old 4GB stick, but I just found some 32GBs so I could actually do that! thanks! [04:13] Well for 4gig sticks is not needed, but for large drives is a must, you can put all your iso in a folder and no more formats [04:13] also it uses exfat, which is recognised in most cars tv and hi-fi systems [04:14] Will it only do linux or can I get Windows setup on there as well, just have one stick for everything? [04:14] you can put whichever iso or the other formats [04:14] listet in the docs [04:15] also clonezila, or other recovery startup disks. [04:36] Huh, now it's whining it NEEDS an efi partition? Never seen that before. So I gave it 450 megs to put that in and it complained it couldn't mount it [04:37] This HDD is gonna go in a really old computer so I dunno if EFI is even supported [04:37] I can't find the legacy BIOS-BOOT option though... [04:41] I don't think it even IS a GPT disk... It might be MBR... it's a 1TB SSD === genii is now known as genii-core [05:14] great, it froze at 33% making the / partition. I swear, linux installations JUST WORKED a decade ago, what HAPPENED? [05:19] K0Y6 (re @join_captcha_bot: ) [05:19] KOY6 [10:20] Star84: I think the installer will install via EFI if you booted it via efi, and via MBR/BIOS if you booted it legacy === Lord_of_Life_ is now known as Lord_of_Life [10:44] TANKS (re @IrcsomeBot: Por favor, use #ubuntu-br para ajuda em português. I am using kubuntu 20.04 Focal Fossa and since a while it stopped resuming from sleep mode. It seems to enter in sleep mode fine, but then when I press the power button to resume, it starts working, fans start making noice, keyboard gets iluminated, but the screen keeps black. Any suggestions on how to debug this problem? [13:37] I have tried looking at the logs but it seems that is only show information about after the reboot [13:38] Oh I am on a System 76 oryx laptop with a NVidia GPU [13:39] Thanks [13:54] 'Morning all === odi is now known as odi_ === odi_ is now known as odi [14:14] x9vx [14:15] OCTX [14:16] GCTX [14:17] Greeting and regards.
