[10:11] I still love the oxygen theme [10:11] ok, I will look at doing that. I can also look at the same in KDE Neon packaging [10:12] thanks a lot! [10:12] no problem. it is hard to keep track of the requirements of every KDE thing. ~400 source packages to do! [10:13] kooka: you still can pull and select oxygen of course, but making most users pull it while we don't use it is not very efficient [10:14] RikMills: yes, we should add a packaging recommendation file at the root of the source [10:14] S22R [10:15] I know packaging is hard and there are so few people... [10:16] yeah, feedback like this helps a lot :) === keira is now known as Guest8063 === keira is now known as Guest9542 [10:24] helli [10:24] hello [12:10] wayland isn't working for me. when i try to boot into i just get my mobo's start screen. I have nvidia drivers version 470. not sure what's wrong. recommendations? [12:11] i'm running kubuntu 21.04 [12:35] Running Kubuntu 21.10 with nVidia proprietary drivers running an RTX 3060. Upon wake from sleep / suspend doesn't switch on the screen. The system wakes up cause the backlight to the keypad starts lighting up when I press any key, but it doesn't switch on the laptop screen. It's pitch black as in the led back light also doesn't start. [12:41] IrcsomeBot: / debarko: does switching to an other TTY work? [12:42] Guest69: 21.04 goes EOL soon so upgrade to 21.10. Besides that nVidia doesn't work with Wayland. [12:42] ctrl-alt-F3, or some other F key. (F1 should be ubuntu's default gui TTY, in case you want to switch back :D) [12:44] Well none of the F keys change to tty [12:44] Also it's on X11 Plasma and not Wayland [12:57] Hi folks [13:04] IrcsomeBot: so ctrl-alt-f3 just does nothing? :( [13:05] I have some problems at work where somehow, my GUI just dies if the computer doesn't use the GUI for a few weeks (when I only use it remotely via ssh) [13:05] so what I have to do there is to switch to a different TTY, which causes the GPU to start emiting images, and the screen to turn on. [13:06] then I have to killall Xserver or something like that [13:08] cbreak: best to type @debarko instead of IrcsomeBot [13:08] they are on telegram.... [13:10] Yes I would have tried killing xserver I can't even get to a terminal [13:10] Let me make a video and share [13:11] @debarko we can't see videos on IRC, so upload it somewhere like imgur and share the link [13:27] https://vimeo.com/665995005 [13:27] Try this. Uploaded to vimeo [13:52] debarko: You don't have SSH access? [13:54] if you do not, you can try enabling it for diagnostic purposes, and try to log in (at least if you have a second computer to do that from) [13:54] but anyway, it does seem to not be the same problem I have, if TTY switching doesn't work :( [13:57] Yeah I can ssh maybe, I will check if the terminal is back up but I am sure it's on since the IP shows up on the router. But even I am able to ssh how will that solve the problem [13:58] I am guessing this is something to do with the graphics driver [14:11] probably [14:12] debarko: you can try to kill X, and maybe it gets restarted again (that's what it does for me). You can look at the output of `dmesg`, maybe it shows something interesting in the kernel logs [14:12] you can check if the GPU works at all, in `nvidia-smi` [14:27] Will try, thanks === jeroen_ is now known as jeronimo === genii-core is now known as genii === lightsight is now known as Lightsight === Lightsight is now known as DTA === DTA is now known as DTA72 [16:52] hello [16:52] first time here [16:53] im having complications i have not been able to solve from Terminal/Bash [16:55] upon reboot i am presented with the ROG "Republic of Gamers" screen indefinitely until i ctrl/alt/del out or depress the power button/unplug [16:56] i can only login via. grub menu with partial graphics functionality [16:57] hence my ability to open programs such as Firestorm/Phoenix viewers just freeze [16:57] is that even on Kubuntu? [16:57] affectively crippling my productivity there... can anyone help assist me? [16:58] hi @Maik it is ubuntu with KDE Plasma [16:59] so ubuntu with KDE installed on top of it? [16:59] yes [16:59] then i believe you're in the wrong channel since this one is specific for support with Kubuntu [17:00] not sure where to go could you direct me to proper channel?
