IrcsomeBot | <bauchhaus> oerheks: I think so, it is a computer from 2013, and last time I upgraded the bios was ~2 years ago. I doubt they still support it now, but will double check. | 00:33 |

IrcsomeBot | <bauchhaus> Yes. Latest BIOS | 00:37 |
oerheks | then don't worry about those messages | 00:38 |
IrcsomeBot | <bauchhaus> But the boot process stalls here | 00:38 |
IrcsomeBot | <bauchhaus> Sometimes I get one more line: | 00:40 |
IrcsomeBot | <bauchhaus> Bluetooth: hci0: unexpected event for opcode 0xfc2f | 00:40 |
IrcsomeBot | <bauchhaus> Could this be a hardware issue? Like the wifi/but card being loose? | 00:42 |

calligar | Hello all, I'm on Kubuntu Focal and I'm trying to compile the kernel using the procedure shown in the Ubuntu wiki, as I want to test some fixes in a wifi card driver. The build stops due to dkms trying to build XFS (a filesystem I don't need right now). If as an alternative I disable the building of XFS in the menuconfig, I get check-config complaining about that and failing the build with an error. I tried passing the "skipmodule=true" argument to | 19:27 |
calligar | the build and menuconfig scripts, with no improvement. | 19:27 |
calligar | Anyone can point me to a resolution, or to a channel where I would get some tips on the matter? | 19:28 |
Maik | @Sanverik stop with that | 19:28 |
IrcsomeBot | <Sanverik> As you wish (re @IrcsomeBot: <Maik> @Sanverik stop with that) | 19:29 |
Maik | good | 19:29 |
IrcsomeBot | <adhooooooooom> How can I downgrade Plasma? | 19:46 |
IrcsomeBot | <adhooooooooom> I have Plasma 5.23.5 (backports) and it has some bugs, is there a way to downgrade to Plasma 5.22? | 19:46 |
Maik | @adhooooooooom not sure but maybe similar to this: https://www.debugpoint.com/2021/06/plasma-5-22-kubuntu-21-04/#uninstall-stock-version | 19:58 |
IrcsomeBot | <adhooooooooom> I upgraded to Kubuntu 21.10 and added the backports ppa which allowed me to upgrade Plasma from 5.22 to 5.23. | 20:03 |
IrcsomeBot | <adhooooooooom> But now I'm experiencing several bugs. | 20:03 |
IrcsomeBot | <adhooooooooom> I don't know wether the cause of the problems is the Kubuntu upgrade or the Plasma upgrade, but it's frustrating. | 20:03 |

keithzg | Hmm, my PC back up at the office running 20.04 can open this .rar file we got from a client (dunno why they rar'd up a small text file, but that's engineers for ya...), but my 21.10 machine here at home can't, weird | 23:18 |
oerheks | !info unrar | 23:18 |
ubottu | unrar (1:6.0.5-1, impish): Unarchiver for .rar files (non-free version). In component multiverse, is optional. Built by unrar-nonfree. Size 132 kB / 326 kB | 23:18 |
keithzg | Yeah that's my initial guess here, that I have unrar-nonfree installed at work but not at home | 23:19 |
oerheks | or 7zip with the rar extention, p7zip-full | 23:19 |
oerheks | !info p7zip-full | 23:19 |
ubottu | p7zip-full (16.02+dfsg-8, impish): 7z and 7za file archivers with high compression ratio. In component universe, is optional. Built by p7zip. Size 1,158 kB / 4,720 kB | 23:19 |
oerheks | if non-free p7zip-rar package is installed), RPM, SquashFS, UDF, VHD, WIM, XAR and Z. | 23:20 |
keithzg | Hmm I have p7zip-full installed but `7za x foo.rar` fails | 23:21 |
oerheks | yes, p7zip-rar is seperate? | 23:22 |
keithzg | No that wasn't the problem, it was that I was misremembering which version 7za was and which 7z was hehe | 23:23 |
keithzg | (I should know better, have to package it up with our software at work!) | 23:24 |
