[05:33] On that note I am seeing gnome-shell crashes in live sessions with 41. It smells like the issues worked around in main-Avoid-meta-finalize.patch but we seem to be including that already [06:42] Good morning folks [06:53] Hi jibel [06:58] good morning desktoppers [06:58] Morning oSoMoN [07:06] hey duflu [07:36] hi duflu oSoMoN [07:37] salut jibel [07:46] good morning [07:46] hi duflu jibel oSoMoN [07:49] hi jpnurmi [07:51] Morning jpnurmi [08:02] good morning [08:02] Morning didrocks [08:02] hey duflu [08:06] salut didrocks [08:08] hey jibel [08:22] lut jibel oSoMoN didrocks, hey jpnurmi duflu, how are you? had a nice weekend? [08:23] Hi seb128, yeah relaxing and productive. How was yours? [08:24] salut seb128, ça va, au sec avant une semaine de pluie. Et toi ? [08:24] good morning seb128 and didrocks [08:25] didrocks, un peu pareil, c'est la tempête là et il va faire mauvais temps pour la semaine [08:26] duflu, it was alright, didn't do much since the kids are sick (fever, blocked nose), got one tested negative for covid yesterday and the other one is getting tested today... [08:26] hey jpnurmi [08:26] oh, also we watched the australia tennis open final which was quite nice [08:27] the weather was pretty rough here with 25 m/s wind most of the weekend. i certainly got some fresh air through the ventilation channels but we didn't go out much [08:29] :-( [08:30] salut seb128 [09:56] good morning desktopers! :) [09:56] hey ricotz! [09:57] good morning jpnurmi, didrocks, seb128 and ricotz [10:00] hey didrocks oSoMoN [10:06] hey oSoMoN === alan_g_ is now known as alan_g [10:50] hi all :-) [10:50] not really good morning anymore on this side of the screen ;-) [10:52] Hi seb128, we've been talking about systemd-oomd a while ago. It is now available in the archive and I was wondering what would be the best way to enable it on the desktop, where good integration is already in place? Would you mind giving your review on https://code.launchpad.net/~slyon/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-meta/+git/ubuntu-meta/+merge/414791 if you find a spare cycle? [10:59] slyon, hey, thanks for the ping. Do you know about https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SeedManagement ? [11:00] I didn't do any seed changes hands-on, so let me read up on that [11:01] slyon, the package is generated from the seeds so that's the level where you want to mp changes [11:04] oh I see, thanks for the hint. I'll be preparing another MP then [11:04] slyon, do you consider it to be a desktop specific feature? [11:06] seb128: yes. In theory sd-oomd works anywhere, but in practice it needs some swap space available to work properly. So I'm considering it to be a desktop specific feature, at least for the time beeing (there have been some improvements to sd-oomd updatream wrt. swap management) [11:06] slyon, depending where you want to enable it, https://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-core-dev/ubuntu-seeds/+git/platform/tree/desktop-common could be right if it should be for other desktop flavors [11:06] slyon, or https://git.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-core-dev/ubuntu-seeds/+git/ubuntu/tree/desktop-minimal if you want it for ubuntu-desktop only [11:08] slyon, but yes other +1 from us to enable it [11:10] thanks! So I'd probably go with desktop-minimal for now, and I will reach out to the flavor leads in parallel, so they can enable it on their own if they want to. I think not all desktop environments are already prepared as nicely as GNOME (and KDE) are wrt. to cgroup isolation of the different processes. So a process going bonkers on a non-GNOME DE could potentially make sd-oomd kill lots of unrelated applications. [11:13] right [11:13] it makes sense to start with desktop-minimal and let other flavor decide for themself [11:33] seb128: thanks for the +1! I've now created: https://code.launchpad.net/~slyon/ubuntu-seeds/+git/platform/+merge/414794 (I'm still reading up on if I need to follow any other process other than getting +1 from the desktop team for this change, and upading+uploading the meta package after the seed change got published) [12:26] slyon, thanks, I gave a review +1 now [13:05] good morning y'all [13:16] Thank you for the review approval! [13:21] jbicha, howdy, how is it going? [13:26] There is frost on my south Florida front yard! [13:27] It's like frosting on top of an amazing day 🧁 [13:29] hello jbicha slyon seb128 [13:29] ricotz: hi :) [13:30] hey jbicha, welcome here! :) [13:34] could someone retry https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnucash/1:4.8-1build1/+build/23053252 [13:36] ricotz, done [13:36] is this known to be flaky? [13:37] oSoMoN, not sure, might be glib2.0 (2.71.0) related [13:37] hey jbicha, welcome aboard! [13:38] thanks, thrilled to be here [13:38] jbicha, oh, congrats! [13:39] 😁 [13:40] oSoMoN, I was looking at https://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-archive/transitions/html/python3.10-default.html [13:50] hey ricotz, how are you? [13:53] seb128, all good here :), I am hoping for you too [13:54] ricotz, I am, thanks!
