[12:13] hello [12:34] any objections against proceeding with LP: #1118815 to remove python-oauth from the archive? This has been sitting for a while now and AFAICT there's nothing depending on it anymore. I will also file a bug to remove it from Debian [12:34] Launchpad bug 1118815 in python-oauth (Ubuntu) "Remove python-oauth from the archive" [Medium, Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1118815 [12:35] Moreover, the package currently does not work with python3 at all and FTBFS [12:36] As per the notes on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment/PackageArchive#Removing_Packages, I will need a sponsor to subscribe ubuntu-archive to the bug. [12:39] athos: done so :) [12:41] utkarsh2102: didn't we want to subscribe them to the bug instead of assigning it to them? [12:41] utkarsh2102: thank you, btw!! :D [12:49] athos: if I had subscribed them to the bug, they won't know which task to look at. So to ease that up, I've assigned them the exact task so they know what to look at it as soon as they see the bug. [12:50] in my experience, both assigning and subscribing works. I'd generally subscribe but in this case, it made for sense to assign. [12:50] athos: does that make sense? Or do you want me to subscribe them instead? :) [12:51] utkarsh2102: that does make sense! Thanks for the explanation ;) [13:40] I'm puzzled as to why https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment/PackageArchive#Removing_Packages asks for non-uploaders to use the sponsorship queue. Anyone can file a bug and subscribe a team I thought. [13:47] rbasak: when I first read it, it got me thinking about who has the final word on removing the package from the archive (archive admins?) and how is their decision process. More specifically, how would they verify the removal request is valid other than checking the permissions (and work history on the specific package) of the requester [13:54] athos: I think they'd just decide if the request is reasonable or not, independent of who's requesting it [13:55] But anyway. I can't speak for them :) [15:34] Um so, when I try to install collectd on 20.04 it want's to install an entire display server stack with xorg and xwayland, and gnome, that seems kinda insane [15:34] 516 new packages with 1.23Gb of space for gathering SNMP data? [15:35] I guess some dependency is messed up, how do I proceed? [15:38] naturally, --no-install-recommends "fixes" the issue, but I should be able to find out what dependency has this entire tree that leads to APT deciding suggesting it is a good idea, and it should be reported to someone no? [15:50] I suspect it's one of those applets [15:50] a bug (if one doesn't exist yet) would be good, yes [15:50] dont see relevant ones right away, check anyway? https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/collectd/+bugs?orderby=importance&start=0 [15:50] I think it's collectd -> libnotify4 -> gnome-shell -> the world [15:51] It does seem odd for lib* to recommend anything [15:55] It's being added in an Ubuntu delta I think [15:55] https://git.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libnotify/tree/debian/rules [15:56] A bug against libnotify in Ubuntu would be appropriate: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libnotify/+filebug [16:28] I filed bug 1961092 [16:28] Bug 1961092 in libnotify (Ubuntu) "Installing collectd pulls in the X.org stack" [Medium, Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1961092 [16:28] GWM: ^ [16:29] GWM: please also affect to the bug in the left upper corner to help speedup the proces [17:14] bryceh: when you have a moment, I'm a bit unsure what you would like changed in https://code.launchpad.net/~ahasenack/ubuntu/+source/nfs-utils/+git/nfs-utils/+merge/415545, if you could read the last updates I did in the comments [17:23] ahasenack, will do [17:29] thx [17:45] ahasenack, posted [17:49] bryceh: do we use LP for server guide bugs? I don't remember [17:49] ahasenack, me either [17:49] let me go to a page [17:49] I know there is a link like "help improve this page", but that links to discourse, the "source code" for the page [17:50] probably would have used trello before, so now could go either bug or jira I suppose. A bug may be more trackable? [17:51] phear, jira [17:51] I'd prefer bug, yeah, we can use milestones, etc [17:51] sounds good [17:51] tbh, I haven't looked at jira directly this yer [17:51] year [17:53] * bryceh -> breakfast, bbiab [18:03] bryceh: there is a serverguide project, which mentions the old location still, but is good enough for tracking purposes perhaps: https://launchpad.net/serverguide [18:03] https://bugs.launchpad.net/serverguide [19:17] rbasak: another weird git-ubuntu error [19:17] $ git ubuntu export-orig --for-merge [19:17] internal error, please report: running "git-ubuntu" failed: transient scope could not be started, job /org/freedesktop/systemd1/job/41 finished with result failed [19:18] that's inside a jammy container, on a jammy host [19:18] proposed enabled on the inside [19:19] I fully did not expect it to be able to fetch the orig tarball, it's not published [19:19] but it's a new error [19:27] lena: hey, this one showed up during my triage today: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mysql-8.0/+bug/1960971 . just checking: it doesn't seem to fall under the two categories you've mentioned during standup, right? [19:27] Launchpad bug 1960971 in mysql-8.0 (Ubuntu) "package mysql-server-8.0 8.0.28-0ubuntu0.20.04.3 failed to install/upgrade: installed mysql-server-8.0 package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1" [Undecided, New] [19:30] sergiodj: correct it doesn't match the main two. It looks somewhat familiar though so I'll see if it matches any others [19:30] lena: ah, great. thanks! [20:05] sergiodj: I couldn't find any bugs that matched this one exactly but I think I figured out the problem. The user installed mysql-server, then purged all mysql packages and installed it again immediately after. The new install seems to have been blocked by the previous one still holding onto some lock files, specifically ibdata1. I will try and reproduce it [20:06] lena: thanks. yeah, I remember seeing this kind of problem before as well. no need to spend a lot of time on it if you have other pressing stuff, btw [20:16] lena: on a side site: if it looks like this is a user configuration issue, you can mark the bug as Incomplete and leave a message explaining the rationale [20:19] sergiodj: Sounds good, I will add a note there. I wasn't able to immediately reproduce so I'll wait for more information [20:19] lena: +1, thanks again [21:09] ahasenack: hi, wondering if you have a setup handy for testing winbind/AD issues (re. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1960821) [21:09] Launchpad bug 1960821 in samba (Ubuntu) "Winbind can no more connect to Windows domain after reload" [Undecided, New] [21:11] let me see [21:11] thanks [21:11] $ virsh list --all|grep win [21:11] - win2k16 shut off [21:11] - win2k22 shut off [21:11] I don't think I have anything set up for this right now [21:11] I have [21:11] but their devel licenses might have expired [21:11] ah [21:11] same with me, TBH [21:12] ugh, he has 4 domains? [21:12] apparently [21:13] I was hoping it would be possible to reproduce using only one [21:13] yeah, I wouldn't try anything more complex than that [21:13] also, bionic didn't get the 4.13 security bump, so this may be something unrelated to samba TBH [21:13] let me boot up the 2k16 one, I think it was the last one I used, let it apply updated overnight, and check tomorrow [21:14] thanks [21:14] we'll sync tomorrow then [21:16] license still valid for 140 more days [21:18] "remove the CMOS battery and you will be good forever" [23:53] Hi, I finished the two MP for smartmontools SRU (bionic and focal) [23:53] https://code.launchpad.net/~mirespace/ubuntu/+source/smartmontools/+git/smartmontools/+merge/415701 [23:54] https://code.launchpad.net/~mirespace/ubuntu/+source/smartmontools/+git/smartmontools/+merge/415702 [23:55] If anyone can take a look at it when it fits well I will appreciate it so much
