=== xelix is now known as JHxelixMF [01:36] https://fb.watch/biFAgcGNXU/ [01:37] Sorry false sending đŸ™đŸŒ [04:15] hi :) [04:16] when I drag my mouse between my screens it gets stuck where they join unless i move it really fast. Why does that happen? How can I disable it? [04:17] kubuntu 21.10, plasma 5.24 [04:22] no clue, move it fast? [04:22] ;;0_0 [06:25] So for the dev's here. Something to work on. Everytime a theme updates the background image reverts back to the stock background image. [06:26] Hi [06:26] hi [06:27] russian speak? [06:27] het, English only [06:27] for me anyway [06:35] ispytyvayu trudnosti s raspolozheniyem knopok v okne. Oni raspolzayutsya [06:35] I'm having trouble arranging the buttons in the window. They are spreading [10:05] hiu [10:05] what is the porpose of thisd chat [10:32] Good morning! Can someone help me with my $PATH please? I have KPatience installed, but I can only start it from Konsole after running export PATH=$PATH:/usr/games [10:33] That only works during the current session, and if I reboot, I have to do it again. Even with that exported, I still can't run kpat from the desktop. [10:39] Edit .bashrc in your home directory and add the line: export PATH="/usr/games:$PATH" [10:40] after edit, reboot ... or... source ~/.bashrc [10:40] Thank you! I still have no idea why the path is messed up, it was fine until a few days ago when I swapped display managers. [10:40] I think I must have screwed something up when I did it. [10:42] anyhow, gonna reboot. Back in a bit [12:27] 9slk [12:27] 9SLK [12:28] Hello everyone, any tips on boosting up Kubuntu? [12:35] I have 7,6 gb ram and core I5 but I still want it even faster [13:02] @Juan JimĂ©nez increase the Animation speed [13:02] and if you don't have one, use a SSD instead of a HDD [13:02] on your machine Kubuntu should run just fine [13:04] 9204 [13:04] 92qa [13:25] Is there something similar to defragmentation on kubuntu like on Windows? [13:33] No need for that [13:34] the file system will attempt to move the files around to reduce fragmentation in normal use [13:34] yay, linux [13:47] @Juan JimĂ©nez defragmentation and even anti virus aren't needed on Linux [13:47] If you use a SSD you can use fstrim [13:53] Does the installer pick fstrim automagically if you have an SSD? [13:53] mparillo, yes [13:54] Gotta love an installer with sane defaults. [13:54] fstrim.timer , hourly [13:56] > /usr/lib/systemd/system/fstrim.service [13:56] oh forget hourly [14:28] Wifi not active in my laptop [14:40] Hello [14:40] How do I make kde lighter? === user__ is now known as babylard1 [14:44] Also,is there some equivalent windows thibgs like power options [14:45] Cleanup [14:45] hello [14:45] Disabling startup programs [14:45] Wait [14:48] welp im currently working on a respin [14:50] Is there an equivalent on linux to power settings, cleanup, readyboost, deleting temporary files, which unwanted or unbecessary apps on kubuntu should be uninstalled, the auto disk cleanup, and adjusting visual effects for vest performance? [14:50] Thanks for an answer [14:50] Sorry for grammar [14:52] Plus some good cleanup programs? [14:53] sudo apt autoremove # would clean up unused packages [14:55] also there is bleachbit, but that tool can seriously damage your install, by non-experienced users [14:59] Any safer than bleachbit? [15:01] there used to be a PPA with stacer, now unmaintained [15:01] so no. [15:18] oerheks: Silver53 was here yesterday with the same question and we explained it to them already. [15:20] i wonder why a lot people suddenly show up with the same questions on how to make Kubuntu faster and about cleanup tools which aren't necessary at all imho. === faLUKE is now known as paolo [15:30] My personal guess is that Kubuntu (and linux and kde) are generally getting faster and lighter, but Web Pages and Electron Apps are getting slower and heavier. [15:41] Silver was told yesterday that 3GB RAM would just not be enough and they'd be better off with Xubuntu or Lubuntu on their system. to run Kubuntu properly you'd at least need 4GB RAM or higher. [15:42] and to speed it up they could change the animation speed [15:46] Lubuntu maybe, but i bet the difference between Xubuntu and Kubuntu is one browser tab at most. [15:47] about 300 MB difference [15:48] xubuntu used on my T410 about 480MB, Kubuntu 780MB when idle === herbert___ is now known as herbert__ [16:01] Hi folks === Lord_of_Life_ is now known as Lord_of_Life [22:02] Hello, I'm french. [23:05] Hello,how/where can I install themes for windows and the taskbar only? I dont wanna change any more things [23:12] GoldkingG4: through the Settings and Appearance [23:16] otherwise search the web for info on how to add and change themes in KDE Plasma, there's a plethora on info out there
