[01:45] Yay no more flatpak errors and it works. [01:45] - Don't propagate GStreamer-related environment variables into sandbox === RikMills__ is now known as RikMills [14:15] Hi folks [14:19] Hello [15:01] @RikMills valorie I have a draft for the 5.24.2 release on 21.10 on the site. [15:02] Nice. I haven't started the build yet though :P (re @ahoneybun: @RikMills valorie I have a draft for the 5.24.2 release on 21.10 on the site.) [15:02] Well I'm getting us ready when you do ! [15:03] *hugs* [15:03] 👍 [15:04] going to upload to jammy in a few mins, then I will start the 21.10 ones building [15:22] Yay! === genii-core is now known as genii [19:14] Hey team, we at Kubuntu Focus are looking at ways to provide customers with better system rollback solutions. [19:15] We have a working prototype with luks+ext4 which is nice, but the snapshot sizes grow very quickly and it requires a good deal of additional disk space. [19:20] Correction: that's luks+lvm+ext4. Pretty standard layout, just with extra space for snapshots. [19:21] The other approach we were looking at is luks+btrfs (no luks). This appears to work well as POC, but I was curious what others felt about this setup. [19:21] fwiw, almost-FDE is completely a requirement here. [19:21] Also, if there is interest in adding an upstream option on btrfs, we can certainly contribute our work. [19:28] So any recommendations on btrfs + luks? Any warnings? Any interest in upstreaming for perhaps as luks+btrfs option? [20:04] I think it depends if ubiquity can handle it, not sure if you still use that. [20:24] Hi Aaron. Yeah, we can probably rework Ubiquity to handle that. [20:54] Good luck with the code haha [20:58] mmikowski while I have you in here where is the code for the keyboard color software that you ship with? [21:06] @ahoneybun I can probably get that for you, hang on... [21:11] @ahoneybun It was pretty much my brainchild. It's in this .deb file if you want to extract that. There's no compiled binaries, it's all a script: https://launchpad.net/~kfocus-team/+archive/ubuntu/release/+files/kfocus-kb-color_20.04.106_all.deb [21:12] I had something similar here: https://github.com/ahoneybun/keyboard-color-switcher [21:12] I think yours does a lot more . [21:12] Oh cool! [21:12] Yeah, it should work on anything that uses the tuxedo-keyboard driver. [21:13] I've been reading our own dmidecode to find the model so it won't work for you unless you are doing something to dmidecode for kfocus. [21:13] Well, we only have two models that can use it (the M1 and M2), so it's pretty easy to sort that out. [21:14] Oh yea super easy on that end. [21:14] Do you have plans on supporting Coreboot? Your models are the galp and oryp for us I believe so it shouldn't be too hard. [21:14] Are these Sager or right from Clevo? [21:14] We have no plans to support Coreboot at this time. [21:15] Ah that's understandable. [21:15] We go through Sager because they're an authorized Clevo service center. [21:15] Ah that's fair. [21:16] So the M2 and the XE. [21:16] Yeah, those are the two current models. The M1 is legacy. [21:16] I've just gotten back into working on Kubuntu stuff so still feeling around lol [21:17] Oh, absolutely. :) [21:18] https://github.com/kubuntu-team/kubuntu-manual ;) [21:18] trying out readthedocs with the kubuntu-docs repo though. [21:19] @ahoneybun KDE has been really kicking it recently. Nate Graham has done a great job of communicating and coordinating product vision that really helps the casual user. [21:19] Yes he has indeed. [21:20] I had a PR accepted and filed one bug so far lol [21:20] It's funny, many issues that are an issue in Gnome-based ditros are alleviated with KDE. OTOH, the reverse is also true. [21:21] A great example is the issue with packagekit and kernel cleanup - not an issue in stock ubuntu because packagekit isn't used. [21:22] This is my bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=449813 [21:22] KDE bug 449813 in Discover "Adding repos causes apt to error out about gpg key" [Normal, Confirmed] [21:22] speaking of packagekit [21:41] @RikMills can we set times to work or review the feature tour for 22.04 LTS? [21:42] I really want to update that for the next LTS. [21:42] or valoria. [21:42] or valorie [21:43] sorry, in a meeting right now [21:46] @ahoneybun I'm curious if you are you planning the feature tour to be a document, video, or something else? [21:46] I was just going to update the photos as we needed. [21:47] We're a bit limited on what WP will support. [21:47] A video is a bit iffy since it takes more time to edit to update. [21:47] Ah, WP = Word Press [21:47] Yep [21:51] thanks @ahoneybun [21:58] 👍
