lubot[telegram] <brucehankins> Is there a way to scale an individual app on Lubuntu? I'm using it with a 4k native display and resolution, and I was able to add 1.5 scaling to the desktop, but unityhub, the text is so small it's almost impossible to read11:21
lubot[telegram] <brucehankins> Also the window controls (minimize, maximize, close, etc) are very small, even though I've gotten the rest of the DE to scale. Is there a better way to use this with a HiDPI set up?11:22
lubot[telegram] <kc2bez> Is unityhub a GTK application? GTK scaling is separate from the normal Qt scaling that the DE uses.11:30
timon40Hi13:08
timon40SO I bought a new notebook, an HP Victus 16-e0656ng13:10
timon40I've spent about 12 hours making USB sticks with different versions of Lubuntu and Xubuntu13:11
timon40Xubuntu will just freeze13:11
timon40Lubuntu was I able to set up and use for hours, but then it will just crash in a split-second and throw me back to GRUB13:11
timon40It's super frustrating, I just played in the backup, synched my browser, installed the tools I need, fiddled with GUI13:12
timon40and now I'm back to square one13:12
timon40So sometimes it crashed seconds after the login screen appears, or once the Desktop is loaded13:13
timon40Any help greatly appreciated.13:13
lubot[telegram] <brucehankins> I'm not sure, but I'm going to guess yes since development is primarily geared towards Debian/RHEL/Cent. (re @kc2bez: Is unityhub a GTK application? GTK scaling is separate from the normal Qt scaling that the DE uses.)15:34
lubot[telegram] <brucehankins> I was able to get most of the UI good with QT_SCALE_FACTOR and GDK_DPI_SCALE, but not unity (re @kc2bez: Is unityhub a GTK application? GTK scaling is separate from the normal Qt scaling that the DE uses.)15:36
lubot[telegram] <teward001> based on my checking Unity Hub is in fact a GTK program - it throws gtk-message warnings and errors, and has a libgtk dependency in AUR and others, so it's almost certain it's a GTK program15:37
lubot[telegram] <teward001> @kc2bez  ^^15:37
lubot[telegram] <brucehankins> Thanks! Is there a way to edit GTK scaling through the lxqt-config-session? (re @teward001: based on my checking Unity Hub is in fact a GTK program - it throws gtk-message warnings and errors, and has a libgtk dependency in AUR and others, so it's almost certain it's a GTK program)15:38
lubot[telegram] <kc2bez> I am not sure sure offhand. I know there had been some work upstream that hasn't landed in a release yet so it is something that is being worked on.15:43
lubot[telegram] <brucehankins> Thanks Dan, I'll try to mess with the config files and see if I can find something. Is there a config for scaling the window controls for other apps such as Firefox, QTerminal, or Muon? Everything seemed to scale properly except the "window decorations", those are still very small at 3840x216015:48
johnHi18:10
johnI want to verify sha256sum of lubuntu-20.04.3-desktop-amd6418:12
johnwhere i can get sha256sum?18:12
=== john is now known as Don007
lubot[telegram] <teward001> john: coreutils which should already be installed on the command line18:19
lubot[telegram] <teward001> if you're using non-Ubuntu systems then it depends.  https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/how-to-verify-ubuntu#1-overview will help just replace the references to the Ubuntu ISO with your lubuntu ISO18:20
geniihttps://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/releases/20.04.3/release/ points to 20.04.4 and it's checksums so maybe you should zsync your .3 to .4 18:23
Don007genii how do i do that?18:29
Don007i have already install lubuntu-20.04.3-desktop-amd64 back in January now is't 20.04.418:31
Don007and didn't verify the sha256sum that time18:32
geniiIf you cd to the directory where the .3 iso file is and you have zsync already installed you can issue: zsync -i the-name-of-your-old-iso-file-here https://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/releases/focal/release/lubuntu-20.04.4-desktop-amd64.iso.zsync18:40
geniiThen after it patches the iso file there you can use the checksum on https://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/releases/focal/release/ 18:41
Don007@genii Thank you so much its done.19:55
Don007checksum ok19:55
Don007checksum matches ok19:55
geniiGlad to assist19:57
