sil2100I need to go offline for a bit, but I'll be available for some archive-admin pings later today for a bit still o/10:09
kotodamahi! we've added SASL support to BIP IRC Proxy in just-released 0.9.3, Debian maintainer is triggering a build atm10:29
kotodamado you think 0.9.3 could make it to jammy ?10:29
kotodamaI checked the schedule but I'm not sure in which category of freeze an IRC bouncer would fall into10:30
kotodamaas Libera is requiring SASL auth from certain IP pools, it could be nice to include it in the next release10:31
kotodama(just got revamped 0.9.4 actually)10:33
seb128kotodama, hey, that sounds like a new feature so it would need to get an exception as documented on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FeatureFreeze10:58
paridebdmurray, hi! I saw you merged https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-cdimage/ubuntu-cdimage/mainline/revision/2006 yesterday but today I still receive an "image oversize" warning email. Does that script need to be updated on some machine?11:12
kotodamaseb128: ah thanks, I'll check that then11:35

coreycbRAOF: thanks for taking a look. yes, the user could still have a modified policy.json version in place that we disable. but, the method of using policy.json was deprecated in the prior release (I'll add a link to the bug if it's not there). I could also update the SRU to not move the policy.json if it exists and just stop generating it. that's an option.12:58

orndorffgrantHello release team. ubuntu-advantage-tools is hoping to release version 27.7 to all series including jammy soon. We have already gotten an initial review from paride, but would like a "pre-SRU" review before uploading to the proposed queue for all series. Will anyone on the SRU team have time to review this this week?13:46
orndorffgrantMP for jammy is here: https://code.launchpad.net/~orndorffgrant/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-advantage-tools/+git/ubuntu-advantage-tools/+merge/41667813:46
orndorffgrantThe content will be the same for all series.13:46

RAOFcoreycb: Hm, but just not generating the policy.json file will result in upgrades breaking, right?23:49
coreycbRAOF: no, it just won't generate it for new installs23:50
coreycbit won't be removed on upgrade23:50
RAOFBut isn't the problem that having the policy.json there breaks things?23:50
coreycbyes, that's the problem, but along the lines of your earlier comment, if a user has a policy.json that differs from the default, and upgrades, then it is not nice to remove it on them23:51
RAOFRight, but it's easy to remove the policy.json if it is unchanged.23:53
coreycbit probably won't be that easy because it is generated and could change from release to release23:55
RAOFBut it's not generated on package install time, right?23:56
RAOFIt's generated at package build time, and shipped in the package?23:56
RAOFAt least that's how it looks from the rules, although I guess `pkgos_write_new_conf` could be doing strange things?23:57
coreycbthat is correct, it is written at package build time. I think we can just fix this in the openstack charm to be honest and not deal with the SRU.23:58
