[16:41] Eickmeyer: so your iso build is failing as you are now exceeding the max size for a DVD? [16:41] RikMills: Not exactly, but I haven't been receiving any build logs for days now. [16:41] And we cut a lot out. [16:42] So, I guess I'm having trouble finding what to cut next. :( [16:42] xorriso : FAILURE : File exceeds size limit of 4294967295 bytes: '/srv/cdimage.ubuntu.com/scratch/ubuntustudio/jammy/dvd/tmp/jammy-amd64/CD1/casper/filesystem.squashfs' [16:42] ok [16:43] https://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-archive/cd-build-logs/ubuntustudio/jammy/dvd-20220317.log [16:45] anyway, I was just curious why you livefs build yesterday, but ther was still no ISO. so looked [16:45] Yeah, I thought it was due to the build failures we had seen before. [16:46] understandable [16:50] Ugh, it was the bloody Firefox snap that put it over. [17:07] RikMills: Eickmeyer David from Ubuntu Budgie reduced our ISO files by removing what Canonical previously shipped, I think they were NVIDIA server drivers were shipped together with desktop drivers and it reduced our ISO greatly. Now he is also removing other NVIDIA stuff. [17:08] you can reach out to David via IRC if you want [17:10] studio already seems to have the nvidia stuff commented out in ship-live? [17:11] right, commented out because 'calamares' [17:12] so that won't help studio AFAIK [17:15] Exactly, RikMills [17:15] ah, ok, well was worth to mention [17:15] sorry was not useful [17:16] Nah, it's OK. It was worth a mention. [17:16] kind of you to point it out. that did save kubuntu 600M! [17:17] * RikMills whispers that it was me that mentioned it to flavours..... [17:18] Well, here's where I'm at: the ISO 9660 size is dictated by the limitation to 4GB of each file, in this case, the squashfs is exceeding that. [17:19] So, I think the TB needs to consider moving away from ISO 9660 as the standard, which is an old standard for CDs and not dual-layer DVDs or BluRay. [17:58] Ok, removed a lot of weight from the DVD. Hopefully we're good now. [18:01] Apparently lv2 plugins are fatter than vst plugins, so switched to that. [18:02] Also removed some relatively dead weight.
