[01:30] Has anyone here had any issues with shutting down Kubuntu on a laptop with an nVidia card? === thopiekar_ is now known as thopiekar [03:20] Hello [03:25] Kubuntu taking too much time to boot up [03:31] It's draining the charges fast too. any solution ? [03:45] hello? [03:45] does anyone know where to download the source code? [03:45] launchpad [03:45] have a link? [03:45] but you asked this before [03:45] or order a book of it I guess [03:46] print it yourslef? [03:46] lolz [03:46] having a cyber terror problem [03:46] lots of torture and murder [03:46] yes, it is spring [03:46] I need to try to do production of stuff if i can [03:46] happy spring [04:02] ........... [07:13] I noticed that there is no package from snap installed by default on Kubuntu. This might be a big selling point for some. Or is it only installed on Ubuntu servers? [08:20] I take that as a good new because I trust Flatpaks much more than Snaps (re @oktaya: I noticed that there is no package from snap installed by default on Kubuntu. This might be a big selling point for some. Or is it only installed on Ubuntu servers?) [08:48] I think I'm gonna try nix packages before I use flatpak or the like [08:49] They are killing good software like LXD by insisting on snaps [09:13] AppImage is not bad too. If you use opendesktop/KDE-Store/Pling aso. over and inside of Kubuntu [10:57] That is likely to change in 22.04 [10:58] Firefox will almost certainly be a snap. [11:08] Can't you install firefox in your home dir and have it update automatically there? Such a bad candidate for a snap [11:18] Generally FF on Linux relies on the package manager for updates rather than FF itself (the way it seems to work on Windows and MacOS). And for 22.04, the current plan for all the *buntus is that your sudo apt install firefox will be an alias (not the accurate term, but I hope you know what I mean) for a snap install. [11:19] I remember you could local install and auto update firefox in the late 2000s. [11:19] on linux that is [11:21] Ahh, I did not know that. I do know i tried to compile the Open S.u.S.E. Firefox with KDE extensions a couple of years ago, but my laptop overheated and crashed. [11:22] But the good news is that standard browsers like Falkon, Konqueror, and Qutebrowser should generally work. I usually only have problems with GMail. [11:48] <.> You can still do that by downloading the release tarball from Firefox's website. Supposedly the one installed by the package manager is better integrated with the system, but I never noticed any graphical changes (re @oktaya: I remember you could local install and auto update firefox in the late 2000s.) [11:49] But, then you have to compile it right? [11:53] <.> No [12:23] Hi all === mkv is now known as m4v [13:15] hi [13:25] hello, I have 2 partitions, one with linux and another with windows. I would like to format my windows partition so that it is factory windows but I don't know how. Does anyone know how? [13:26] that's more a question for in #windows i guess === joe is now known as Guest34 === joe is now known as Guest9485 [15:53] this must look weird on irc [16:25] O [17:30] Once again I find myself back on xfce4 :) [17:45] good luck then (re @oktaya: Once again I find myself back on xfce4 :)) [17:50] thanks === Lord_of_Life_ is now known as Lord_of_Life [20:31] When Ubuntu adopted Unity, I tried both Xubuntu and Kubuntu before settling on Kubuntu. But XFCE is not a bad choice. [20:31] Off=topic, I suppose. [20:34] a [21:01] technically i am still on Kubuntu, just without KDE [21:03] No you're actually not because the base is Ubuntu. But we are going way offtopic here. This group which is bridged to the official IRC Channel, is for support with Kubuntu and the KDE Plasma desktop. Not any other desktop or WM you install on top of it. (re @oktaya: technically i am still on Kubuntu, just without KDE) [21:07] OK good. No reason for me to stay then. Cheers. [21:32] no reason to drive people away if we can help them, @maik)_ad [21:33] this is a friendly, polite, helpful channel [23:02] como reset de fabrica ? === theo is now known as Guest5199
