d0ra3m0nHello everyone08:57
Jeff16I have 2 partitions: large Win 10 that I want to replace and small recovery to Vista11:54
Jeff16On install Lubuntu (I booted off USB drive) I can't replace the Win10 partition only the recovery Vista11:55
Jeff16any helpers?11:56
guivercWhat release of Lubuntu, and I don't understand what you're trying to do; you primarily focus on Windows not Lubuntu11:57
Jeff16Lubuntu 20.04 booted from USB, now trying to overwrite my Win10 cause its too demanding for hardware11:58
Jeff16Vista was original O/S so I'm keeping recovery partition just in case11:59
guivercdid you disable fastboot/hibernate etc on the windows 10; Lubuntu will ignore the unclean partitions (fastboot & hibernate make file-systems unclean as they keep some parts of the fs in a fastboot/recovery file which is faster to load)11:59
Jeff16how do I do that? Since I booted from USB would unclean fie systems be there still?12:01
guivercyou need to boot windows 10 to disable it's fastboot & hibernate functions.. if they're enabled; the fs is unclean as a 'clean' filesystem is slower to boot12:02
guivercI'm no expert in windows 10 sorry; but that's what I'd guess your issue is.. the fastboot is a problem if things go wrong (due unclean-fs) & a problem for other OSes due to unclean-fs...12:03
Jeff16okay,reading about it. So I have to go back, boot from Win 10, then do this: [Power & sleep settings] in the Windows search bar①, and then click [Open]②. Click [Additional power settings]③. Click [Choose what the power button does]④. If the fast startup option is grayed out in Shutdown settings, please click [Change settings that are12:03
Jeff16currently unavailable]⑤12:03
Jeff16I'll try. Thanks guiverc. Just like MS to put a dirty file system so you can't wipe their partition12:04

StefHello, I tried to register to Lubuntu forum but I never ever received the confirmation email. I even tried from a different browser. I have a gmail account, could it be the issue?18:12
