[07:07] RikMills: Hello there. If you're on, I posted some thoughts on repos. It's very late here, so calling it a night. Let me know when 5.25.1 is ready for testing and we can put it through its paces. [07:07] mmikowski: ack [07:08] Also, if there is anything you are particularly interested in getting tested, we can add to the automated tests or manual list. [07:08] still sipping coffee here [07:08] RikMills: What is ack? [07:09] acknowledged. common IRC dev talk [07:09] Ahh, yes, it's been a *long* day here. Writing a BIOS update tool. [07:09] Ah, yeah, I've never been much of an IRC guy. Just enough to know that Slack wasn't all that special :O [07:09] I will think on the repo thing. it can wait however until the current plasma release gets stable enough for both of us [07:10] unless things really drag on..... [07:10] anyway, good night your side :) [07:10] ok, as I mentioned, I think we can really help with Kubuntu and KDE testing more up-front. With 20.04, it was very stable by the time we really got underway. [07:11] ah, it's ok for a bit :) [07:11] I was very constrained on backports for 20.04 due to things like Qt version [07:12] Yeah, kind of a blessing perhaps. It was stable enough to build on. [07:13] 5.25.0, um, yeah. We'd like to help catch those sorts of bugs before they become support issue. It could be a virtuous cycle - we've got the interest and resources to perform regression tests, and that can feed into improving Kubntu and KDE *before* releases breaks existing systems. [07:16] Again, please let me know when 5.25.1 testing is around, and I'll put the team on it. We'll do the hardware test + one full desktop check. Unless there's a regression, at least with this hardware, the intel_backlight interface looks good. [07:16] We can upstream the nvidia_backlight fix if there's interest. [07:17] RikMills: We had some interesting upstream bugs last week that you probably want to upstream. I'll paste them here: [07:18] RikMills: er, i mean we would like to upstream. Here's the list: * The odd arrangement of the SDDM inset screen has been resolved (2430) [07:18] * The virtual terminal fonts are now cleaner and larger (2377) [07:18] * Slack desktop auth has been wrapped so that it works (2357) [07:18] * Tapping the Kubuntu key now launches the startup menu (2215) [07:18] * Kernel security updated to 5.17.0-1011 (2393) [07:18] * Encrypted disk sign-in no longer has crowded or overwritten text (2386) [07:18] * The GPU switcher now consistently identifies the running GPU (2352) [07:18] * A system report mechanism is now available, kfocus-sysreport (2415) [07:18] * Toggle USB devices on Sleep-Resume (2429) [07:18] * Fan curves are now changed with power profiles (2419) [07:19] kk mate, calling it a night. Peace out. [07:19] ok, and thanks! [11:39] Hi all [12:42] https://kde.org/announcements/plasma/5/5.25.1/ [17:30] RikMills: Confirmed desktop widgets getting hosed on every sign-in and repeatable with screen shots. We'll keep on eye on this and the three other issue for 5.25.1 once that's available. Is there a way to get these reports to KDE to improve the upstream? I'll give Paul Brown a bump and see if we can help that way. [17:31] mmikowski: bugs.kde.org and also maybe contact Nate Graham [17:33] mmikowski: I have just copied 5.25.1 to backports-landing. it will be available there shortly once the launchpad publisher catches up [17:33] https://launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ppa/+archive/ubuntu/backports-landing/+packages [17:57] Eickmeyer: ^^ [17:58] 5.25.1 is also in there for kinetic, and also currently building in kinetic archive [17:58] RikMills: Ack. Seems the bug fixes I'm looking for are mentioned in the announcement. [17:59] \o/ [18:00] sorry, in staging-plasma for kinetic [18:00] Except, of course, the plasma crashing on global theme switching, which is an ironic bug because it's crashing when plasma is shut-down to switch the theme. [18:03] must try to reproduce that. didn't get it when I tried last [18:32] Gotta love it when all of the amd64 launchpad builders are completely borked. [20:23] RikMills: Thank you! I will email you about catching up with Nate. [20:24] We'll also upgrade to 5.25.1. We recently rolled back our 5.25.0 systems because it is too painful. Also, no right-click to exit anymore? There goes *that* muscle memory. Ugh. [20:28] no, that was removed :/ [20:38] Yeah, bummer-riffic [20:39] Out of 5 people who tested, 5 people complained about that. [20:39] https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-workspace/-/commit/ecc938a6663ab56a501ab3e5ffa9ed55444af779 [20:40] Commit ecc938a in plasma/plasma-workspace "Remove 'Lock' and 'logout' items from default desktop context menu" [20:40] assuming that is what you mean [20:41] Yeah :(
