mjmalikhi all, I need a little guidance with running a program in parallel. There is a simulation task which i run one thousand times to get a result, on an 8 core machine i run 8 tasks of this job in parallel and when these  tasks are done my pilot script submits another 8 tasks until we have 1000 tasks completed. 17:11
mjmalikMy question is, What if i modify the pilot task to  submit a larger number of tasks say 32 or 64 at once and keep the OS loaded with  64 tasks until all the 1000 are done. What approach may result in quicker completion of simulations. 17:11
mjmalikPlease note : the task is not a data intensive one.17:11
mjmalikAny suggestion shall be appreciated.17:11
arraybolt3[m]mjmalik: Hmm. This might not exactly be off-topic if you're using Lubuntu, however the people here might not be knowledgeable in trying to do exactly what you're looking for. You might look at Reddit and see if there's a subreddit that may have people who know more about what you're trying to do.17:13
mjmalikThanks. I will try asking there.17:18
arraybolt3[m]mjmalik: As a hint, if you don't want to give your email to Reddit, you can just leave the field for an email blank when it asks you for one and it will let you make an account anyway.17:18
mjmalikalright mate, thanks for the tip.17:20
