I open the installer, Ubiquity, and everything goes normally up until the Disk Setup step. Upon trying to enter it, I get an error mesage saying that ubi-partman crashed with exit code 141, upon [13:21] checking /var/log/syslog it says that partman couldn't find any "matching physical volumes". I've searched across the web but I didn't find any solutions to this, I already have RST disabled and plenty of unallocated space on the drive, plus 3 NTFS partitions used by Windows, one of which is the one from where Kubuntu live is running. I'm looking [13:21] for possible solutions, or alternatively a manual method to install Kubuntu without using Ubiquity. [13:27] Guest5351: can you select manual partitioning? or does it fail before that? [13:28] I recently installed 22.04 bypassing the GUI installer, via debootstrap [13:28] I mostly followed this guide: https://openzfs.github.io/openzfs-docs/Getting%20Started/Ubuntu/Ubuntu%2022.04%20Root%20on%20ZFS.html [13:28] but it is for installing zfs boot, which you likely don't want [13:29] (also, the dataset layout in that document is weird, so I wouldn't recommend following that one even if you want zfs) [13:29] the debootstrap part might help you, at least as a basis to search for more instructions [13:30] the general idea is: set up some partition for ubuntu, mount it somewhere, use debootstrap to put stuff there, chroot into it, install more stuff, fix configs, ... set up bootloader, reboot === wayne is now known as wayne__ === popey8 is now known as popey [14:35] Help me please : https://irc-attachments.kde.org/3d7b60bc/file_58072.jpg [14:51] Gama1iel, are you trying to boot a live usb stick? [15:37] Try with another tool, it probably did something wrong [15:40] steps 1 to 4 should be equivalent for kubuntu (as long as you use the proper .iso) https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/install-ubuntu-desktop#1-overview [15:40] i cant able to open a snap app , when i click ntg happn 😥 [15:41] run it froma terminal / konsole, see what is being reported there [15:41] yea already done , but nothing comming (re @IrcsomeBot: run it froma terminal / konsole, see what is being reported there) [15:42] it's usually because either the snap itself or snapd is broken and needs a manual sudo snap refresh ... [15:42] and sometimes the snap is generally broken [15:43] still same (re @IrcsomeBot: it's usually because either the snap itself or snapd is broken and needs a manual sudo snap refresh ...) [15:43] commands : [15:43] milesdredd@milesdredd-k-notebook:~$ tradingview [15:43] milesdredd@milesdredd-k-notebook:~$ sudo snap refresh [15:44] All snaps up to date. [18:31] i have a new laptop [18:31] and [18:31] i want kubuntu on it [18:31] and [18:32] i dont know how to install it [18:32] first of all have you written a USB drive with Kubuntu? [18:33] i am downloading now 12 mins untill done [18:34] user|69: ok, so you're on indows now right? [18:34] windows* [18:34] yea [18:34] i have 2 sata drives [18:34] both are 1 tb [18:35] download https://www.balena.io/etcher/ [18:36] install etcher and once the Kubuntu iso is done downloading then write it to the USB drive with Etcher [18:37] after that you restart the PC and go to the boot menu (pressing either f12 or f9 or f2) [18:37] ok im downloading now [18:37] k [18:39] and choose to boot from the USB drive, once it boots, check out if everything works, first see if the wifi works, then sound, videocam, microphone and so on, if everything works fine then go ahead with the installation but, you need to decide for yourself whether you want to erase windows completely and install Kubuntu only or you want to have both of the systems. [18:40] ok\ [18:55] user|69: I recommend unplugging / disconnecting the windows drive, if possible, before installing ubuntu [18:55] that way you're keeping them fully separate [18:56] unfortunately, the ubuntu installer is known to not honor efi target partitions [19:07] ok ty [19:58] does it have fingerprint [20:01] depends if your fingerprint device is supported [20:02] https://fprint.freedesktop.org/supported-devices.html and the list on https://launchpad.net/~fingerprint/+archive/ubuntu/fingerprint-gui === chris is now known as Guest8770
