[14:37] <tomreyn> something to be aware of when you buy hardware for linux systems: hardware sold for 'gaming' often deviates from standard hardware in that extra features were added, which can require dedicated driver support to work well. manufacturers of such devices will often only provide such custom drivers for the windows platform, though. so you may have difficulties getting such custom hardware (or all  of its features) working well on linux.
