[04:41] could I add ubuntustudio PPA on linuxmint? And run all inside apps normally? [04:41] Tu Ha Vuong: Unlikely. Linux Mint and Ubuntu are related, but are two different distros, and mixing them could have extremely bad effects. [04:42] Tu Ha Vuong: You can install an official Ubuntu flavour and then use the Ubuntu Studio Installer to Ubuntu Studio-ize it, but it probably won't work on unofficial derivatives like Linux Mint. [04:43] Yeah, I understand Mint's dev disabled many things Canonical's relate [04:44] And it's not just that. They have a different release cycle than us, use their own build servers, etc. Just like how installing Ubuntu packages on Debian could go horribly wrong, and vice versa, same with Linux Mint and Ubuntu. [04:44] So the suggestion, better install Ubuntu's flavour offical, then add repo ? [04:44] Tu Ha Vuong: Yes. You can start with any official Ubuntu flavour (Ubuntu, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, etc.), and use the Ubuntu Studio installer on it, or you can install Ubuntu Studio itself if you like the KDE desktop. [04:45] Okay, got it. Thx bro! [04:45] 👍️ [04:45] (Interesting side note, Ubuntu Cinnamon is working on becoming an official Ubuntu flavour, if and when that happens, you can use the Ubuntu Studio Installer on Ubuntu Cinanmon to give you an Ubuntu Studio-on-Mint kind of thing. It's not there yet, but they're working on it.) [04:46] (So that's something to look forward to.) [04:47] Haha long time, I didn't add repo when I was using AVLinux. [04:49] Btw Cinnamon will use Mutter for wayland. That's almost gnome things. Just looking forward to pipewire and wireplumber. And bluetooth audio device still be the nightmare now =)) [04:51] Ah yes, the woes of Bluetooth. I still remember the time I installed PulseAudio and PipeWire side by side and made a script to switch between the two so I could get Bluetooth working aaaaaalmost right. [14:19] Tu Ha Vuong, arraybolt3: I'm actually working with the Ubuntu Cinnamon Remix lead on getting it official status. [14:19] Tu Ha Vuong: But no, we do not support being installed on Linux Mint at all. [14:19] !ubuntustudio-installer [14:19] Ubuntu Studio Installer is an app that can be used to add Ubuntu Studio's benefits to an existing Ubuntu (or official flavor) installation, and/or add the !ubuntustudio-backports PPA.
