=== guiverc2 is now known as guiverc [03:05] good morning [08:48] this is an announcement for every Ubuntu (and its flavours) volunteers who would like to help revamping and stronger the Ubuntu community or share their ideas, feel free to join at #ubuntu-community-team and query Fallen the new Community Engineering Manager at Canonical [08:48] https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/creating-focus-in-the-ubuntu-community-your-help-needed/29509 === Wez is now known as _WEZ_ [15:55] Thanks for the intro lotuspsychje ! There are a number of areas I am interested in, the one I talked to lotuspsychje about was user support and ways to improve it. I've heard there are many engaged people who are answering questions, but it might be worth creating a stronger bond between them to coordinate and improve the user support process. [15:55] KBar: Did you get that resolved? I checked with the team and was told the best way to go about this is to post it as a "question" on Launchpad itself, someone from the team will triage it and take care. [16:04] welcome Fallen :-D [16:43] Fallen: can you clarify "coordinate and improve"? [17:58] leftyfb: i was telling Fallen yesterday there are a lot of active volunteers around the ubuntu support channels and their flavours, but its a bit hard to pinpoint them in a list, its more like a group of individuals that come here and spend their free time in support [17:59] leftyfb: so what i think Fallen means is to bring back that group feeling more, like community meetings etc/channels to gather in [18:01] we also need more op's. Mainly to cover all timezones [18:03] what benefit would there be for being able to point to a list of active volunteers? Not saying there isn't any, just honestly curious what they are or what they want them to be. [18:13] leftyfb: fallen is still in a discovery mode, so he was curious about if a list or a LP existed of the more active volunteers, not that he wanted to specialy create a list [18:15] for the -ops in my opinion, being an op is a personal choice, not really something we can force on demand? [18:15] lotuspsychje: I'm not saying forcing it, but put the offer out there to fill gaps [18:16] isnt there always an offer to become one already? [18:16] or do you mean promote it beter? [18:17] the fact that we are both asking this question means it needs to be promoted better, if it exists [18:17] think there's a wiki on it, but cant recall starting point [18:18] we all know there are times where #u gets pretty hot with "undesirables" and tends to discourage other users from chiming in with help or requests for help [18:18] and personally, frustrated the hell out of me that they go on unchecked [18:18] frustrates* [18:18] at times [18:24] i think our existing ops all do what they can already (in my timezone online that is) [18:24] leftyfb: but maybe you can sketch to Fallen what an ideal situation would be in your opinion [18:48] leftyfb: lotuspsychje described it pretty well. I'm not looking for a list that people can reach out to, but indeed more to nurture the group feeling. Folks providing support have a common purpose, and I'd like to do some community building around that. This could be an opportunity to get together and determine gaps, such as the issue you mention on moderator timezone coverage, and find out together how we might overcome these issues. [20:00] hey. [20:00] is Ubuntu on phone dead for ever, or some of you are using it maybe? [20:01] for the pine64 or librem phones, and the future ones. [20:01] arg_: I think you want #ubuntu-touch [20:02] hi left, yeah, well just 6 ppl, i guess its truly dead. [20:02] 2 bad. [20:02] thx anyway. [20:05] someone's keeping it going [20:06] https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/ their device selection is a bit limited.. the newest pixel device is pixel 3a [21:01] hi [21:02] hello Wilbur8
