[01:44] !patience [01:44] Don't feel ignored and repeat your question quickly; if nobody knows your answer, nobody will answer you. While you wait, try searching https://help.ubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org or https://askubuntu.com/ === thopiekar_ is now known as thopiekar [02:10] it was asking for python so i installed python 3.10.4 and 2.7.18 both but it says dependency is not satisfiable: python (>= 2.7) [02:10] what to do now [02:16] why install python4, while it is standard? [02:16] err python3 [02:16] and python2 is EOL. [03:47] Is there a file manager similar to the default Dolphin that supports displaying/sorting date created timestamps? When I tested Kubuntu on a live ISO I couldn't find any option to see that timestamp. [03:47] from what I understand Ubuntu (and presumably by extension Kubuntu) uses ext4 which supports such timestamps [03:52] i think timestamps only work when you do a real install [03:53] all timestamps should be equal on the live iso [03:53] mount some data disk, and you might be able to select time [03:58] oerheks, are you able to view date created on your install btw? I had the live ISO's system + a mounted NTFS drive, fwiw. [05:44] Spring, I can sort by Created.Date but I'm not using NTFS or a squashfs/live fs. [07:09] Kubuntu release details? === guiverc2 is now known as guiverc [10:48] greetings, is it possible to do an unattended upgrade to 22.04 from 20.04? The last upgrade I did keep needing input. [11:02] 0Q04 [11:03] JJY2 [11:04] Z7KF [11:09] iomari891, please don't post the same question in multiple rooms [11:10] Hello people. I have a Lenovo V155-15API laptop. My problem is that one of the fn+f key combinations, the one that is supposed to toggle the touchpad on and off, does not work. Every other combinaiton (for example volume toggles) works. How can I make that combination work as others do? [11:15] I have a Lenovo Yoga C740, IIRC the touchpad button worked fine, but screen and keyboard brightness keys didn't :( [11:28] Ummm, what happened here? :D I censored some bits, but you can probably figure out the problem : https://irc-attachments.kde.org/c89c00ee/file_58219.jpg [11:28] I flipped over to tty2 and back to tty1, then eveything was fine again. [11:59] @npeippo: Good... yikes. Wow. I'mma say your graphics drivers need some coffee. What did you do just before it went into this state? [12:02] Tried to bring up Discord, which was open in the background :) [12:02] Was it just a random glitch that isn't coming back, or can you make it happen again? [12:02] Seems quite random, won't come again [12:03] Probably just the 3d desktop effects thingy not wanting to play nice with the graphics drivers [12:03] Man. Well glad it fixed, but wow. What graphics hardware are you using? Intel, AMD, or NVIDIA? [12:03] That's what I would guess. Or maybe an overheated GPU. [12:03] ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ [12:04] gtx 1070 ti [12:04] 22.04.0 (re @IrcsomeBot: Kubuntu release details?) [12:04] Are you using the proprietary drivers? [12:04] I'm quite sure it wasn't overheated, I had just booted up the system a minute earlier [12:04] Yup [12:05] Hmm, well then I'm not sure what to say. Except wow. Maybe you could show us the output of dmesg? Ctrl+Alt+T to bring up a terminal, then "sudo dmesg | nc termbin.com 9999" and send back the link. That might give a clue to what lost its mind for a sec. [12:09] https://termbin.com/lnv0 [12:10] Oh great. That Discord/Snap/AppArmor glitch has pretty much wiped your dmesg logs, so... I guess it will forever be a mystery. [12:11] 🤷‍♂️ [12:12] I can sleep my nights quite well without knowing what it was :) [12:23] @npeippo: Silly question, but mind if I post the glitch on Reddit? [12:23] If you care to censor the rest of the names and texts that are visible, then it's okay. There isn't anything sensitive, but still... :) [12:23] I'm too busy atm :D [12:24] You got it. [12:29] Meh, I'm tired and there's too much there to clean up, so nevermind. [12:30] I do still wish I knew what made it go bonkers, though... [13:19] But I have this problem only in Kubuntu, while I don't have this problem in Ubuntu and Arch (re @IrcsomeBot: afshin if you use a display port adapter you MIGHT get different results HDMI is notorious for little issues.) [13:21] Afshin I am just trying to help you with your problem. I don't think this needs to be said, but I don't know everything about your sistuation, but the startup process for each display manager is different. Maybe look into that? [13:21] Does it display properly in SDDM? [13:23] If you mean the second monitor, yes, it is displayed, but the resolution is low, but everything is normal in the laptop. (re @IrcsomeBot: Does it display properly in SDDM?) [13:23] SDDM is KDE/Plasma's login screen [13:24] GDM is Gnome's login screen [13:24] I am wondering if SDDM looks good on that screen. [13:25] I know that on my second monitor, SDDM is displayed with a low resolution, when I log in, the screen is black (re @IrcsomeBot: I am wondering if SDDM looks good on that screen.) [13:26] Have you tried launching Plasma from GDM instead? [13:28] I have not tried. How ? (re @IrcsomeBot: Have you tried launching Plasma from GDM instead?) [13:29] You said things worked on normal Ubuntu. Did you install Kubuntu as a fresh install? [13:31] Yes (re @IrcsomeBot: You said things worked on normal Ubuntu. Did you install Kubuntu as a fresh install?) [13:32] Don't you have this problem? (re @IrcsomeBot: You said things worked on normal Ubuntu. Did you install Kubuntu as a fresh install?) [13:33] I see, well normally you wouldn't want to do this, but if you really want Plasma to work what I would do is try and figure out what is different from the two installs so I can bring over what is working under GDM/Gnome into SDDM/Plasma. [13:33] You can possibly disable the GUI boot up and see if you see any processes failing. [13:33] This is how I would debug the issue. [13:34] If you installed normal Ubuntu and then installed the Kubuntu Desktop on top of that you could picked GDM as your login manager. [13:34] During the login process in both GDM/SDDM you can pick which DE you want to use. [13:34] I will come back now, I apologize [13:43] No I have Kubuntu installed already. My problem must be in the graphics settings, I don't master it. (re @IrcsomeBot: During the login process in both GDM/SDDM you can pick which DE you want to use.)
