Roeyhello00:02
Roeyi'm trying to get the microphone on this Soundcore Q30 bluetooth headset working... I can see the mic as  adevice in pavucontrol but it doesn't respond when I talk00:02
IrcsomeBot<Oski146> I have not installed studio rn but 2 weeks ago i tried installing on my notebook (re @IrcsomeBot: <alkisg> Oski146 if the installation finishes successfully and the system doesn't boot, it might mean that you actually installed in MBR/BIOS mode instead of UEFI. Can you show us your `sudo gparted -l` partition layout?)00:18
IrcsomeBot<Oski146> Iam using kubuntu rn00:19
Snugglebug[m]Not sure if this is the right place, but I've been having a bit of trouble with Discover and apt01:13
arraybolt3[m]Yep, right place. What's going wrong?01:14
Snugglebug[m]So I'm not too knowledgeable with linux, and was attempting to resolve an error I got from running apt update. Any time I would run an update, I would get the error "E: The repository 'http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hirsute Release' does not have a Release file." I tried narrowing down which entry in my sources.list and sources.list.d was causing the issue, disabling everything in software-properties-gtk only to discover that the01:19
Snugglebug[m]error persisted. I re-enabled all the repositories I had earlier disabled, and decided I would look into it more later. However, now when I attempt to use Discover, I get the message that it is "Unable to load applications. Please verify Internet connectivity." The only applications which I can install from Discover are from Snap and Flatpak01:19
arraybolt3[m]Snugglebug: Are you still using Kubuntu Hirsute?01:22
Snugglebug[m]Distributor ID: Ubuntu01:22
Snugglebug[m]Description:    Ubuntu 21.0401:22
Snugglebug[m]Release:        21.0401:22
Snugglebug[m]Codename:       hirsute01:22
Snugglebug[m]output from lsb_release -a01:23
arraybolt3[m]That's your problem. Ubuntu 21.04 and all flavours thereof are end-of-life and no longer receive software updates.01:23
arraybolt3[m]So the best solution would be to upgrade to a supported version, like 22.04.01:23
arraybolt3[m]However, since 21.04 is multiple steps away from 22.04, upgrading might be a serious challenge, so the easiest route may be to copy all of your data onto an external drive, and reinstall a supported release of Kubuntu from scratch.01:24
Snugglebug[m]Ah alright. That makes sense. Thanks for the info!01:24
arraybolt3[m]No problem, happy to help. In case it's useful, LTS versions of Kubuntu get 3 years of support and updates, while non LTS versions get 9 months of support and updates.01:25
arraybolt3[m]So if you install 22.04, it will keep working until April of 2025, and then will be end-of-life. Upgrading before the EOL date hits will keep your system secure and avoid problems such as these in the future.01:26
Snugglebug[m]I'll keep that in mind!01:26
arraybolt3[m](Er, "help keep your system secure" - obviously that's not the only piece of the puzzle of security, but you get what I tried to say LOL)01:27

user|9i cant find a graphics driver for my notebook or its imcompatible21:52
arraybolt3[m]user|9: Could you run "lspci | nc termbin.com 9999" and send the link? That will tell me the exact graphics card you have.21:53
user|9ok one minute. i am on my desktop rn21:54
user|9arraybolt3[m] https://termbin.com/acwj22:06
user|9arraybolt3[m] sorry for delay.22:08
arraybolt3[m]Looking...22:16
arraybolt3[m]user|9: You shouldn't need any graphics drivers at all. You're using Intel graphics, and Intel graphics have full support built into Kubuntu.22:17
arraybolt3[m]Graphics drivers are only needed for NVIDIA and possibly AMD graphics.22:17
arraybolt3[m]Is there any particular problems you're having with the graphics on your machine?22:18
user|9arraybolt3[m] every time i try to run a game, its cap on 15 or 1 fps22:20
user|9its literally unplayable22:21
arraybolt3[m]user|9: Well, you are using a 1st gen Intel CPU, so while the drivers are built into the system, the graphics are probably going to be not-very-powerful due to the CPU's age.22:21
arraybolt3[m](Intel is currently on 12th gen processors with integrated graphics, you're on 1st gen, there's a massive gap therem.)22:22
arraybolt3[m]there*22:22
user|9but this game that I said is 15 fps when I run on linux, when I'm running on windows it's around 200 - 30022:24
user|9when I play minecraft on windows it's around 20 - 30 fps, but on linux it's 1, that's the problem22:25
user|9and every time i turn on my laptop it says i have to update the drivers22:27
arraybolt3[m]user|9: Hmm, that sounds like maybe the Linux versions of the games aren't so optimized. Or are you using Wine?22:28
user|9im using kubuntu. may wine will run better?22:38
user|9btw i use kubuntu on my desktop and run perfect22:39
user|9i can play games better than windows22:39
arraybolt3[m]It might, it might not. I'd expect the Linux version to work well, but I dunno. That's really odd that the performance is so bad. Can you open up KInfoCenter and tell me if llvmpipe is on the first page?22:39
user|9one sec.22:41
user|9ย 222:43
user|9arraybolt3[m] https://prnt.sc/dQTRdfIoZLCB you mean this?22:49
arraybolt3[m]Yep, that's the screen, but it's using your graphics properly, so Idk what's wrong.22:50
arraybolt3[m]Is it this laptop can do 30 fps in Minecraft? I can imagine your desktop doing that, but a 1st gen i3? I'd expect that to be sad.22:51
user|9yeah with optfine and small render distance can reach 20 - 30 fps22:52
arraybolt3[m]What version of Windows were you using?22:53
user|91022:53
user|9i should try using wine ?22:54
arraybolt3[m]You can try, but I'm not sure if it will be faster. Do you have any graphics card in your system, like an NVIDIA or something? Maybe Linux just isn't seeing it?22:54
arraybolt3[m]Like, can you still boot into Win10?22:55
arraybolt3[m]Or did you install over the top of it?22:55
user|9nah its only the laptop, btw i aways use a ssd on this laptop with windows, and now i use this ssd on my desktop22:57
arraybolt3[m](Also double-check that you're setting the optfine and small render distance settings that you needed in Windows.)22:57
user|9when i want to use windows on my notebook i just take the sdd from my pc and put it in it22:57
user|9btw my intention to put linux on my notebook is to gain more performance on clone hero (which is a clone of guitar hero)22:58
user|9a while ago I was able to open the game but it was stuck at 15 fps, now it doesn't even open anymore22:59
user|9when i play on windows it is around 200 - 300 fps22:59
arraybolt3[m]Yeah, I don't know what's wrong then. Maybe #ubuntu will be of more help? There's more people active there.23:00
user|9i will keep trying another distros23:02
user|9btw thank you for help23:02
user|9:)23:02
arraybolt3[m]Sorry I couldn't fix it, but happy to try!23:03
arraybolt3[m]user|9: Oh hey, I just spotted a problem.23:03
arraybolt3[m]user|9: You're using Kubuntu 21.10, which went out of support a couple weeks or so ago. You might get better performance (and definitely better security) if you try Kubuntu 22.04.23:04
arraybolt3[m]Finally, Lubuntu is very lightweight and might help you get more out of your laptop. (Disclaimer: I'm a Lubuntu contributor.)23:05
user|9oh ty def i will uodate23:05
arraybolt3[m](That's if you stick with an Ubuntu-based distro - no one says you have to, but if you keep trying Ubuntu, I'd take Lubuntu 22.04 for a spin.)23:05
user|9i will try lubuntu23:05
