[08:29] Hello, I am trying to install Xubuntu on a 4K laptop screen and need my phone to be able to read the text. Alt-scroll zooming doesn't work at this stage. How can I change the resolution during installation? Ctrl-Alt-plus/minus only seems to work in (K)Ubuntu... Thanks! [09:42] Dear people. I had a bad experience with a text file that got all its content deleted when disc space ran out. Not even previously saved content was remaining on disc. This is a big problem. [09:44] An open file should not get wholly put in RAM, but have the saved content remaining on disc. If disc space runs out while the file is open the old content should still be there instead of the text file going to 0 kb in size and everything is lost. [09:45] The only error message I got was "the file cannot be saved". I pressed ignore and then "do not save" and then everything was gone! a sixty row text file was now a 0 row file. [09:53] xu-irc67w: hi. that's a bummer. :-/ which editor were you using? had the file been previously successfulyl saved to disk? [09:53] if so, which file system is being used there, what are its mout options (from /etc/fstab / /proc/mtab)? [09:54] *mount options [09:55] xubuntu83d: i do not know about the installer, but a possible alternative would be to install ubuntu server and change that into a xubuntu installation. [10:05] one moment [10:07] Gedit, It was succesfully saved several times, filesystem: ext4 [10:31] tomreyn thanks for the suggestion! With more and more laptops getting 4K screens, this might be something to add to the installer, though... [10:59] tomreyn, the login screen is still tiny and zoom does not work there yet; after login it recognises my resolution setting... To me this is a bug. [12:52] I am using Xubuntu 22.04 64 bit. I have a hybrid GPU with Intel HD 4000 and Nvidia Geforce 640M LE. I have an external monitor that supports max 2560x1440 (Dell S2721DS). The problem is I can get it up to 2048x1080 [12:52] Any ideas? [16:43] hi [17:50] hey [17:50] hola [21:33] I figured it out, its bc i moved the icons to the desktop :D alright!
