NintenHey, all! I have recently installed xubuntu 22.04.1 LTS, and it runs smoothly, despite the old hardware (an eleven-year old laptop by ASUS.) I've run into some issues, though. For example, the key combination Super+left (keypad), moves the window to the left side of the screen, only if I manually set it to do so, despite already having the same key combination set as the default. That means that14:58
Nintenwhenever the computer is restarted, or comes back from sleep mode, I have to manually set it. Otherewise, nothing happens when I press that combination. Another issues I'm facing, and maybe this is more suitable to the #ubuntu channel, is with Thunderbird and Firefox. It happens when I start a download and they ask to choose between opening the file, or saving it. Saving is fine, but if I want to14:58
Nintenopen it, there is no way to choose the application that will open the file. The only applications available are System Handler (default), and Firefox/Thunderbird. I wonder if this happened to anyone else. If so, what did you do?14:58
Kuschelponygood sunday15:50
Kuschelponydo you think this link is trustful to get the last 32bit version of Telegram? it looks like it has been purged from the web elsewhere https://objects.githubusercontent.com/github-production-release-asset-2e65be/19374812/d64b6b80-1586-11eb-8dda-fb80a85c0a62?X-Amz-Algorithm=AWS4-HMAC-SHA256&X-Amz-Credential=AKIAIWNJYAX4CSVEH53A%2F20220812%2Fus-east-1%2Fs3%2Faws4_request&X-Amz-Date=20220812T183212Z&X-Amz-Expires16:22

Kuschelponyhmm moment i tried to copy a shorter link16:22
Kuschelponyi meant this one:16:26

tomreynKuschelpony: you notice this channel is about Xubuntu, and there is no supported 32-bit version of Xubuntu?16:35
Kuschelponyyes, but please excuse me if "unsupported" means im totally out with my 32bit laptop running XUbuntu16:36
Kuschelponyi tried to get the best out of a machine that costed 4500€ when new16:36
tomreynyou won't have received security updates for a looong time16:36
tomreynKuschelpony: using a linux distro which still provides 32-bit security support (or tries to) may be better choice then. but then, you seem ot be aware of your options.16:40
tomreynalso, if this computer was that expensive then there's a chance its parts have value in a scrap metal sense. it might be worth investigating this, and maybe the revenue would be enough for a current replacement (surely not 1:1).16:41
Kuschelponywell lets say i want to keep this Toughbook...16:43
Kuschelponybut sorry for wasting your time16:43
tomreynoh that's fine, i'm glad you're already aware what your risks are.16:56
Kuschelponyyes16:57
Eight_Tried to change boot order through the terminal to allow Xubuntu to take priority, but Windows still boots first requiring me to manually press the esc button and switch to booting Xubuntu. Is there any way to get this to work properly?18:19
tomreynEight_: either change the boot order properly through the terminal, or if it's not possible, you can also usually do so on the uefi provided pre-boot user interface18:35
tomreynyou did not say what you did there in your terminal, so commenting on that is only possible in a generic way.18:36
Eight_I had gone through the steps to change the boot order through the terminal and it didn't seem to change anything. I don't exactly remember what guide I had followed to change the boot order so I'm not exactly sure how to elaborate on that. How would I go about changing the boot order on the pre boot user interface?18:37
tomreynnote that, in #ubuntu, you can often get a faster response from a broader audience to questions which are not limited to xubuntu, but matter for all the flavors, like this one.18:37
tomreynthis is implementation specific, consult your mainboard / laptop manual: "How would I go about changing the boot order on the pre boot user interface?"18:38
tomreynthere is usually some kind of a boot order menu, where you can move boot targets up and down18:39
tomreynbut not every implementation has this18:39
Eight_Alright I'll try that. Not sure what questions do or dont apply to specifically xubuntu or to ubuntu as a whole, so I just figure its better to ask here. With f10 I can access boot options and change the order around, but nothing I change there seems to have any effect on xubuntu's boot order.18:42
Eight_Also, the boot order swapping method I had used last time I attempted to fix the issue was using efibootmgr and changing boot order such that xubuntu was at the highest priority, or at least above windows. Didn't seem to work though18:43
tomreynright, efibootmgr would be the right tool. your goal should be that on the BootOrder line, the first 4 digit ID is that of the "Boot...." line pointing to xubuntu18:50
