Eickmeyer[m]So... this lubuntu-installer-prompt... is this like "maybe-ubiquity" where it prompts "try ubuntu" or "Install Ubuntu"?15:06
arraybolt3[m]Eickmeyer: Yeah, pretty much.17:24
Eickmeyer[m]Hmmm...17:24
Eickmeyer[m]You have my attention.17:24
arraybolt3[m]It's a fullscreen QT app. It displays a "Try Lubuntu" and an "Install Lubuntu" button. The idea is, Lubuntu will boot a minimal OpenBox environment. If "Try Lubuntu" is pressed, the app will close and full LXQT will launch. If "Install Lubuntu" is pressed, Calmares will be launched in the minimal environment. Currently, though, Try Lubuntu just drops the user to the already loaded desktop, and Install Lubuntu launches Calamares.17:25
arraybolt3[m](So we've not yet gotten the minimal openbox thing done yet.)17:25
arraybolt3[m]It's much, *much* lighter than the Ubiquity version (I think the Ubiquity version is called "ubiquity-dm"?). It's all C++ rather than Python and it's a very small program comapred to ubiquity-dm.17:28
arraybolt3[m]s/comapred/compared/17:28
Eickmeyer[m]Yeah, ubiquity-dm would be the dm that would launch maybe-ubiquity, which would then either quit the dm via "Try Ubuntu" or launch Ubiquity via "Install Ubuntu". In Kubuntu, ubiquity-dm runs a minimal window manager under kwin.17:29
arraybolt3[m]Ah. OK.17:31
Eickmeyer[m]So, there's some great potential here. I could see a use for Studio since that little bit is, as you can imagine, missed.17:35
arraybolt3I think that was part of the idea when me and Simon made it. (He coded, I did the packaging.)17:35
tsimonq2<Eickmeyer[m]> "So, there's some great potential..." <- Later iteration don't worry20:53
Eickmeyer[m]<tsimonq2> "Later iteration don't worry" <- Not worried. Just intrigued.21:10
tsimonq2<Eickmeyer[m]> "Not worried. Just intrigued." <- YAML21:43
tsimonq2Eickmeyer @eickmeyer:matrix.org: Ansible + Cala = ❤️ ?21:44
Eickmeyer[m]👀21:44
Eickmeyer[m]I know ansible about as well as I know the Czech Republic.21:45
Eickmeyer[m](iow not at all)21:45
tsimonq2learn :P21:45
Eickmeyer[m]tsimonq2: Time.21:47
* tsimonq2 yeets coffee21:47
tsimonq2time is a construct :P21:47
Eickmeyer[m]You try being a 40-something with a family.21:47
tsimonq2:P21:48
tsimonq2I joke I joke, I kid I kid, not trying to offend, please please forgive21:48
tsimonq2(Does anyone get that?)21:49
arraybolt3[m]Reminds me of a line from Ushpizin.21:49
arraybolt3[m]Anyone else ever seen that movie?21:49
tsimonq2I mean, it's a line from an Eminem song with a swear word in the title, but hey, works for me :P21:49
tsimonq2anyway back to chaos elsewhere21:49
* arraybolt3[m] goes back to the distrho-ports wars21:50
arraybolt3[m]Simon Quigley: Also if you like rap, look up Bryann Trejo.21:50
tewardarraybolt3[m]: because i'm testing federation21:57
tewardi'm not using matrix.org for my account ;)21:57
* Eickmeyer[m] also has a kde.org account he never uses21:58
arraybolt3[m]Ah. Makes sense. Just thought it was a golden opportunity after the running joke we had over that.21:58
* arraybolt3[m] teleports back into space station and then proceeds to hack teward's new Matrix server21:58
tewardarraybolt3[m]: i'mma shove you out the airlock again21:58
tewardexcept this time we'll be next to a black hole21:59
tewardwe call that hole /dev/null21:59
arraybolt3[m]Too late, already welded the airlock hole shut.21:59
arraybolt3[m]s/hole/door/21:59
tsimonq2# FINALLY21:59
tewardunfortunately the problem is my client isn't rendering certain channels21:59
tewardlike #Ubuntu for example21:59
teward[m]works it seems with riot.im though22:00
tsimonq2takes time, latency22:00
arraybolt3[m]I can see you typing, so something's working.22:00
teward[m]Simon Quigley: after 3 attempts to join #ubuntu i gave up on Element22:00
arraybolt3[m]I think riot.im is Element?22:00
teward[m]yeah but it's still at riot.im22:00
teward[m]i'm thinking of seeing if I can run a local variant.22:00
arraybolt3[m]It takes forever to join a new channel with Element.22:00
arraybolt3[m]But for me it works and I'm on relatively ancient hardware on my main laptop and am using the PWA on my Chromebook.22:00
tewardwhat client would you guys suggest?22:01
arraybolt3[m]Me and Simon are both Element guys. Not sure what Eickmeyer uses.22:02
tsimonq2I use Element as a main client and SchildiChat on mobile as a dedicated work client for my dedicated work account22:02
tsimonq2(Element on desktop supports profiles)22:02
arraybolt3[m]I also know that enigma9o7 uses Element.22:02
arraybolt3[m](You might have seen him floating around the other channels.)22:02
arraybolt3[m]Actualy, nevermind, I can see what Eickmeyer uses by clicking on his profile. Element, Riot Desktop, Nehko, Mirage, and gomuks looks like.22:03
arraybolt3[m](Good grief, that is a lot of clients.)22:03
tsimonq2(That also happens if you don't clear out your old clients. I do for the sake of cleanliness. The only two active clients, that is, the only two clients allowed to sign in as me, are my phone and my computer, both of which are fully encrypted.)22:04
arraybolt3[m]teward: Something's weird with the client you're on - it's identified as "AKDDRVQNIE", which doesn't look normal.22:04
tewardthis is probably because it's Internet riot.im and causing issues22:04
tewardi'm working on getting a different client22:04
arraybolt3[m]Mine just calls it Element Desktop (Linux) and app.element.io/index.html (Chrome, Chromium OS)22:05
teward(it may also be because it's not using a matrix.org account, whois me and you'll see it's using my own matrix homeserver22:05
tewardwe'll see though i mayneed to stab some things22:05
Eickmeyer[m]arraybolt3: I've used a bunch.22:05
lubot[telegram] <teward001> in any case i know how to setup a matrix homeserver for Lubuntu now22:05
lubot[telegram] <teward001> so *shoves Simon out the window*22:05
arraybolt3[m]\o/22:05
* tsimonq2 hands teward the rusty prison shank22:06
tsimonq2teward001: Have you ever used Ansible?22:06
* arraybolt3[m] banishes teward to the belly of Jonah's whale22:06
tewardDO I GET TO SHIV ARRAYBOLT NOW?22:06
teward*yawns*22:06
arraybolt3[m]Don't try it, my armor is reflective!22:06
tewardarraybolt3[m]: this blade is made of dark matter.  it works against all armors.22:06
tewardbut i digress22:06
* arraybolt3[m] runs22:06
teward*stabs some clients*22:06
arraybolt3[m]OK, back on topic22:06
Eickmeyer[m]teward is like the resident chihuahua.22:07
tewardEickmeyer[m]: but armed with cutting-edge weapons tech :p22:07
Eickmeyer[m]teward: Not wrong.22:07
Eickmeyer[m]All I can do is try to reproduce the brown note.22:08
teward[m]hah22:13
teward[m]you know what you're seeing for the client?  You're seeing the random client ID that's assigned to me22:13
Eickmeyer[m]Noice22:13
teward[m].23:41
tewardoops23:42
arraybolt3[m].23:42
