Why is it taking so long to accept the following: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/2.06-2ubuntu10 [07:23] SiD`: i think proposed +7 (?) days is normal, isn't it? [07:24] you can always use the one from -proposed if you want it earlier [07:26] tomreyn TBH I have no idea, not much experience :D [07:26] But, there are 2 packages that aren't instalable on 22.10 [07:27] I already have "deb mirror://mirrors.ubuntu.com/mirrors.txt/ kinetic-proposed main restricted universe multiverse" in my sources.list yet it won't install [07:29] Here's what I get when I try to install the packages: https://dpaste.org/D6JxJ [07:46] SiD`: you mean kinetic, right, there's no 22.10. you're on an in-develpoment release, package resolver conflicts can occur. it could also be your local system, though [07:47] see what apt list --installed | grep ',local\]$' | nc termbin.com 9999 retuns. these are packages installed on this system which has no upgrade path. [07:47] you can also use apts' Debug:: options to get a better idea of why resolving dependencies fails. [07:48] if you're still using aptitude, stop doing so, it uses a different mechanism for holding packages than anything else does. [10:29] SiD`: https://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-archive/proposed-migration/update_excuses.html#grub2 [10:30] It's generally wrong for users to be using the development release -proposed pocket. It will make some package uninstallable. [10:30] *packages [10:31] For the development release, the proposed pocket is a staging area for developers to sort out the issues. [10:31] It's not like SRUs and there's no 7 day ageing period. It's used for a completely different purpose. === JanC_ is now known as JanC [16:53] rbasak: thanks for explaining this, i never knew - but i can see how such a repository is needed.
