[08:40] Has anyone else noticed that, when booting Ubuntu Studio 22.10 in a VM after installation, the SDDM screen is entirely messed up? I've been experiencing this for quite a while and never got around to reporting it, but what happens is the system boots, the SDDM screen is black, the on-screen keyboard is visible, no password box can be seen, you have to blindly enter your password, then when you hit Enter you see the SDDM screen [08:40] flash for an instant, at which point it looks very... not normal, and then the desktop loads normally. [08:41] Is this a known issue? [08:42] (Also with Ubuntu Studio Kinetic, I've noticed that the SPICE integration stopped working. SPICE integration is essentially the closest thing virt-manager and GNOME Boxes have to VirtualBox Guest Additions - it usually works out of the box and I believe still does on Lubuntu, but not on Ubuntu Studio.) [14:24] "Has anyone else noticed that..." <- Hmmm... haven't seen that problem, but did see a problem where it completely wouldn't function due to upstream SDDM changes that affected the breeze SDDM theme and bugged it out. [14:25] Maybe that's because you're using VirtualBox rather than KVM. [14:25] That was on bare metal. [14:26] It sounds like you're hitting a similar problem though, because the weirdness I'm seeing looks like the SDDM theme is b0rked. [14:26] Well, the sddm theme is literally a symlink to the breeze theme. [14:26] At least that looks like part of the problem. [14:26] With some minor changes to the wallpaper. [14:27] You ever seen the default SDDM screen on Arch Linux? It looks like that. Maybe I can snag a screenshot. [14:28] I know what you're talking about, and I thought I fixed it. [14:28] Lemme try with the latest ISO real quick. [14:32] (Bah, what's with me and deciding to stay up until I'm in near-zombie mode? I was supposed to go to bed hours ago, and I'm still up and now am even starting work. :P) [14:34] arraybolt3[m]: Go. To. Bed. [15:16] Too late, the Matrix has me! (Mid support session plus dealing with spam) [15:17] smh [15:25] Looks like you did indeed fix it, everything looks normal on the latest ISO. [15:26] whew [15:29] Yeah, I had to override one of the symlinks with a modification of the theme to get rid of some animation items that were removed from the latest sddm that upstream KDE didn't think of, which means breeze-sddm is broken upstream. [21:58] Eickmeyer: how do I get settings to open in admin mode (as root I guess)? [21:58] when I open printer settings I can't get to many settings
