DelemasI'm still confused about all the back and forth wrt/ Nvidia and Wayland on 22.04. Are both X.org and Wayland fully available for 22.04? If I go there can I keep using X.org instead of Wayland for Nvidia compatibility?12:29
krytenDelemas: Yeah, that's all true, and we'd know because Xfce isn't even near compatible with Wayland yet.16:09
DelemasBasically I'm trying to figure out if I upgrade to 22.04 can I keep using XFCE on X.org or do I need to stay on 20.04 for now?16:10
krytenWell, since there *is* a Xubuntu 22.04 and obviously with Xfce, and like I just said...16:14
DelemasThere seems to be a lot of contradictions with 22.04 so sorry but it wasn't obvious to me i.e. where Xubuntu 22.04 + working Nvidia drivers + X.org isn't obvious from the existence of Xubuntu 22.04.16:17
DelemasThanks for the response btw. I'm simply trying to determine if the upgrade is going to cause me issues with my specific use case.16:19
centHOGGhiya, anyone here dual-boot with win11?16:36
tomreynDelemas: Sorry if i didn't explain it well the other day. So, Xubuntu will (have to) contionue to use X.org for the foreseeable future, certainly until XFCE supports Wayland. Nvidia proprietary drivers would be another reason to stay with X.org for now (but may become Wayland compatible before XFCE/XFWM do). So, for all I can tell. there's no reason other than what may be documented in the release notes (you should always read those before 17:16
tomreynupgrading) to not upgrade to 22.04, yet.17:16

tomreyni don't think you will succeed in preventing an entire usb stick to be writable, in just software.22:13
tomreynthe only way i know that gives yuo this result is a physically broken usb stick.22:14
tomreynand those with a hardware switch, but they are rare22:14
arraybolt3[m]tomreyn: I think what they're trying to achieve is the ability to verify that the drive is unmodified. As it stands, the live environment causes changes to the USB drive by default that result in a sha256sum-style verification to fail. They want that to not happen so that changes aren't normal and are detectable.22:32
Delemastomreyn: thanks for the clarification much appreciated.23:26
