IrcsomeBot<trevantee> i had to sudo apt update....... (re @CrustyCrab55: sudo apt upgrade      libldap-2.5-0  libldap-common  xdg-utils)05:14
IrcsomeBot<trevantee> the issue of "not upgraded" has been a recurring thing on kubunttu 22.0405:15
IrcsomeBot<trevantee> https://itsfoss.com/following-packages-have-been-kept-back/05:18
IrcsomeBot<trevantee> theres a whole article on it05:18
arraybolt3[m]@trevantee: Not sure why it would be considered an issue. The guy is using the wrong apt upgrade command. It's "sudo apt full-upgrade", not just "sudo apt upgrade".05:19
arraybolt3[m]@trevantee: Also even with full-upgrade, seeing held back packages is normal with Ubuntu 22.04 due to a new thing called "phased updates".05:20
arraybolt3[m]Phased updates basically mean that, when an updated package is released, it is rolled out to users gradually. This avoids slamming Ubuntu's servers all at once, and also makes it so that if the updated package starts to cause problems it can be fixed before a giant number of users are hit with the update.05:21
IrcsomeBot<trevantee> even that doesnt o the trick (re @IrcsomeBot: <arraybolt3[m]> @trevantee: Not sure why it would be considered an issue. The guy is using the wrong apt upgrade command. It's "sudo apt full-upgrade", not just "sudo apt upgrade".)05:22
arraybolt3[m]@trevantee: Then you're almost certainly facing phased updates, in which case, don't worry about the held back packages. They'll install eventually.05:22
arraybolt3[m](There's a command you can use to see update phasing but I don't remember what it is.)05:22
IrcsomeBot<trevantee> i didnt know that before hand (re @IrcsomeBot: <arraybolt3[m]> Phased updates basically mean that, when an updated package is released, it is rolled out to users gradually. This avoids slamming Ubuntu's servers all at once, and also makes it so that if the updated package starts to cause problems it can be fixed before a giant number of users are hit with the update.)05:23
IrcsomeBot<trevantee> i just did sudo apt install on each package05:23
IrcsomeBot<trevantee> does that cause any harm?05:23
IrcsomeBot<trevantee> i went through with it after i read this article (re @trevantee: https://itsfoss.com/following-packages-have-been-kept-back/)05:24
arraybolt3[m]@trevantee: It shouldn't cause a problem.05:25
IrcsomeBot<trevantee> Thanks for your time (re @IrcsomeBot: <arraybolt3[m]> @trevantee: It shouldn't cause a problem.)05:34

ubottuKDE bug 422948 in plasmashell "[systemd boot] Startup sound does not play; system muted until after login" [Normal, Confirmed]07:17
IrcsomeBot<CrustyCrab55> It seems to be fixed with latest plasma 5.25 but not with 5.24 on KU22.0407:18

guruprasadI have installed Plasma 5.25 on my Kubuntu 22.04 installation using the backports-extra PPA and things have worked very well in general. However, I am seeing an issue with the Brave web browser and the Latte dock. All the open applications in the dock's task manager toggle between coming to the foreground and getting minimized. But only the brave browser icon in the dock does nothing when I click on it.08:45
guruprasadHas anyone else run into this?08:45
guruprasadI have checked the special application and window settings for the browser and verified that there are no overrides that could be causing this.08:46
guruprasadAnd this used to work properly before I upgraded to 5.25 via the backports-extra PPA.08:46
