[16:53] <davef> I've been getting increasing dissatisfied with Samsung and Android in general. One feature that should be out of the box, support for standard protocols like Card/CalDAV.. Android does not support this out of the box and you have to pay $5 to get an app that sometimes works.
[16:53] <zxmpi_> yeah, had a few samsungs and they just seem to have a we know better attitude that irked me no end
[16:54] <davef> When I say sometimes, Android for some reason will just kill the app, even when you tell it not to optimize it. 
[16:54] <davef> And then when Samsung pushed an OS update, it installed Facebook app. Like WTF?
[16:55] <davef> I also got my S20FE a couple years ago direct from Samsung. I wanted the non-carrier experience, updates direct from Samsung. Did I get that? No.
[16:55] <davef> First thing the phone did upon inserting the SIM, it branded itself.
[16:55] <davef> So now I only get carrier approved updates
[16:56] <daftykins> sounds like a Canada thing

[16:57] <davef> Friends tell me they've not had this experience with the iPhone. It doesn't brand itself and it only recommends apps when inserting the SIM, not outright changing the browser homepage, installing apps you cannot remove, etc.
[17:00] <daftykins> Samsung do know better though... how to make nice hardware and then ruin it with junk software :)
