[00:58] Hello, people! I hope you're all having a good day. Can anyone help me regarding some geolocation issues I have with my installation of Kubuntu 22.04.1 LTS in general? [00:58] Whenever I click the button to find my precise location on Google Maps and on OpenStreetMap over the preinstalled Snap version of Firefox 105.0.1, it would always zoom the map out to the entire city I live in, and in the case of the latter it would show a massive blue radius around the dot, suggesting that the location shown was extremely imprecise. [00:58] I tried to solve this by removing Firefox Snap and replacing it with both the .deb release from the official mozillateam PPA and the Flatpak release to no avail. I also tried to find my location by installing both .deb and Flatpak versions of Gnome Maps and clicking on the button to find my location, and the same thing happened. I additionally tried to switch the geoprovider url from Google's to Mozilla's in the about:config site within [00:59] Should I need to provide more information to get this issue solved, I'd be glad to provide any logs or screenshots. [00:59] Thanks in advance! [01:04] I assume that the geolocation for something like Google Maps uses your IP address, so it generally can't be any more precise than what city you're in [01:10] I've often had it work pretty precisely on Windows, though. And that's without my phone providing that information. (re @IrcsomeBot: I assume that the geolocation for something like Google Maps uses your IP address, so it generally can't be any more precise than what city you're in) [01:17] @comodoropet4: You probably use Windows quite a bit and do a lot of Google searches, right? Google hones down your location from your search history, if I remember correctly. [01:18] Not exactly. I used Windows a lot, yes, but I recently had it removed from my laptop. On past installations of Kubuntu and other distros, I had no issue with Gnome Maps, OpenStreetMap and Google Maps showing my precise location, at least with the .deb version of Firefox. This time, I recently distro-hopped back to Kubuntu from Fedora KDE, and I've been finding this issue no matter which mapping website or program I use. (re @IrcsomeBot: [02:08] Any good equalizer out there? [02:21] Hey any one help me, does touchegg works well on kubuntu [02:21] I can't able to work it neon [05:37] Hello [06:13] Hello, [06:13] I m having slight problems with plasma 5.25 , [06:13] It's auto hide isn't workin'... [06:13] But it hides it self only when i change desktop 1 to 2 , ot 2 to 1 . [06:13] How to solve ? [07:05] Something went severely wrong. I can’t get into desktop from login screen. When I put my password and hit enter, it jumps back to login screen again instead of desktop or home. [08:31] @CrustyCrab55: I had a similar problem the other day (just kept getting "Unlocking failed" when trying to unlock the screen). I solved it by switching to a TTY (press Ctrl+Alt+F3), logging in there, then running "loginctl" to see the list of logged in sessions. After figuring out which one was me (the one that wasn't in a TTY), I ran "loginctl unlock-session " (replacing as appropriate), and then pressed Ctrl+Alt+F1 to switch [08:31] back to my desktop. That got me back in. Remember to switch back to the TTY (Ctrl+Alt+F3) and run "exit" to log out of the TTY so you don't just leave an unlocked shell to your system on and running for someone to mess with you with. === arraybolt3_ is now known as arraybolt3 [09:11] Okay (re @IrcsomeBot: @CrustyCrab55: I had a similar problem the other day (just kept getting "Unlocking failed" when trying to unlock the screen). I have the kubuntu 21.10. To continue update I need install 22.04 LTS correct? [14:50] user|57: yup. Looks like 21.10 stopped receiving updates on july 14 [14:51] thanks. I need to do a fresh install. isnt possible to update? [14:51] You should be able to update [14:51] hi [14:52] i have a little issue [14:53] when i press fn + prtScr the bluetooth and the wi-fi turns on [14:53] i wanna make it just turns the wi-fi on [14:55] thanks . i will do do-release-upgrade [14:56] user|57: there was a bug awhile ago that apparently prevented updating, but I assume that's been fixed by now [15:34] Omar: "fn + prtScr" is probably "flight mode" on your device, which, according to your description, does what it should do - disable all radio communication. if you want to only disable/enable wi-fi (wireless) you'll need to use the GUI or CLI or configure your own keyboard shortcut for it. [15:36] you can use the "rfkill" command to (soft) block / enable individual devices [15:44] On laptops with special fn+somekey combinations to toggle hardware on and off this is usually a hardwired internal thing === jcea1 is now known as jcea === jcea1 is now known as jcea === oliver_ is now known as olivr [22:59] How to start contributing for KdenLive documentation? [23:15] kksilvery: have you tried to answer this question by visiting the softwares' website, yet? [23:18] Tom. Yes, but I'm confused. [23:18] I created the account and visited the Kdenlive Documentation page. [23:19] https://invent.kde.org/documentation/docs-kdenlive-org [23:19] This is the page, right? [23:57] kksilvery: apparently so, but i think you'd better ask this somewhere where development of kdenlive is a topic. there are probably specific irc channels for it on this or other irc networks. [23:58] !alis [23:58] Alis is an IRC service to help you find channels. For help on using it, see «/msg Alis help list» or ask in #libera - Example usage: «/msg Alis list http»
