knurdLo! The Linux kernel's regression tracker here. Anyone any idea why Linux 6.0 seems to break the firefox snap and causes errors like "/bin/bash: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libdl.so.2: unsupported version 0 of Verdef record"? 11:43
knurdfor details see https://lore.kernel.org/all/b0c258c3-6dcf-aade-efc4-d62a8b3a1ce2@alu.unizg.hr/ or https://lore.kernel.org/all/4c45d359-3e58-05ec-0a40-1ebcf2283af2@gmail.com/11:44
mupPR snapcraft#3939 closed: command: update edit-validation-sets to craft-cli <Created by sergiusens> <Merged by sergiusens> <https://github.com/snapcore/snapcraft/pull/3939>12:06
ograknurd, there is no linux 6.0 in ubuntu yet ... 12:09
knurdogra: I know, but some people gave 6.0 a try and it cause a bug for them that didn't occur with earlier kernel, so it should be fixed on the kernel side (per the kernel's policy)12:11
knurd(and I guess Ubuntu people also would be happy if this is fixed before 6.0 lands in Ubuntu or a devel branch)12:12
ograknurd, define "gave a try" ... an ubuntu kernel comes with a good bunch of patches and with a set of expected default config options ... if you did not apply these patches and do not use an ubuntu generic config, you are very likely missing features12:12
ogra... like snaps do break when using any of the unsupported mainline test kernels from the test PPA12:13
ogra... i'd not expect anything else from a 6.0 mainline without the ubuntu bits 12:14
knurdaccording to https://lore.kernel.org/all/1266113f-75a1-b276-bb8c-3cdfcbabf043@alu.unizg.hr/ it happens on AlmaLinux (CentOS fork), too12:14
ograsnapd simply expects all these bits if it detects that it runs on an official ubuntu install ...12:14
knurdogra: ahh, okay, good to know, thx12:21
ograknurd, looking at that log there seem to be quite a lot of issues that seem unrelated to the kernel 12:21
ogra(libc version mistmatches, lib-loader issues etc)12:22
knurdogra: yeah, that's what I thought as well, but apparently going back to 5.15 or 5.19 solves this (but I have no idea if the tester used a vanilla or a ubuntu kernels there)12:22
ograit probably makes sense to file a but in LP to make the kernel team aware, but stil these other errors are quite confusing 12:23
