mmikowskikeithzg: Can you run /usr/bin/env python3 in a terminal? What do you get?00:03
mmikowskiMy guess is /usr/bin/env might be broken for your account somehow?00:03
mmikowskikeithzg: or python3 isn't in the PATH being used by the script...00:05
mmikowskikeithzg: maybe anaconda or miniconda environment?00:05
mmikowskikeithzg: Terminal problem it looks like. See https://stackoverflow.com/questions/52376942 or https://stackoverflow.com/a/38238281/6826476. Best of luck.00:09
mmikowskibtw, just trying to be helpful. Sorry if its redundant or too basic.00:10
keithzgmmikowski: Yeah running `/usr/bin/env python3` directly throws the exact same error, that's the key clearly. `python3` is definitely in my path though, at good ol' `/usr/bin/python3`, I was just long ago told the correct way to formulate a shebang line for Python3 was as above.01:11
keithzgmmikowski: Alas both those search results are emblematic of all the results I've found myself, which are entirely unrelated Python i/o error issues. Everything works fine as long as I don't use `/usr/bin/env python3`. Calling `/usr/bin/env` on its own prints out a ton of environment variables, however piping that to `grep -i python` returns not only nothing in my own user account, but also nothing in accounts where it *does* work, so I don't01:14
keithzgknow what the difference could be.01:15
mmikowskihey @keithzg, I've got a hunch.01:15
mmikowskiIt definitely looks like something is special (in a bad way) with the account environment. So I would suggest interpolating. Have you tried running in xterm instead of konsole?01:17
mmikowskiAfter that, I'd dump the output of `env` for a user and environment where it works to a file, then do the same in the broken environment. Then diff the two.01:18
mmikowski(the terminal change was the hunch, btw :)01:19
mmikowskii'd use a visual diff like meld or kdiff3 or vimdiff to make changes easier to view. You might also need to sort the outputs to normalize them.01:19
mmikowskiAgain, sorry if this is too remedial01:20
