[06:31] Good morning, yesterday I turned off the PC and this morning I turned it on and now my monitor is known as 'default' with only the 1024x768 resolution. Can I get a hint what might have broken this? (Monitor is a 1920x1080 on hdmi) [08:29] hello everyone, will deleting a repository in Software also automatically delete/break the apps/packages you downloaded through it? [08:44] @ari88, no. but updates to those apps will fail or not be processed. [08:47] couldn't you just re-download those repo's again if you wanted to update them? [08:48] i think that should be possible yes. For example for Plex I have a repo, and plex wont update as long as i keep that repo disabled/removed. [08:49] sweet, i guess my main concern was that having tons of repo's enabled could slow down your computer in the long run [08:50] depends on your setup as well as internet connection speed. But i agree on keeping things tidy and clean [10:05] I'm the guy who asked the weird question above, concerning the full installation packages. Did anybody answered that? [10:13] xubuntu14d: What's apt -s install xubuntu-desktop^ give you? [14:13] ok [15:49] hi, i wrote a question about the kernel 6.0 , and the actual kernel 5.19..their update and which xubuntu choose to run [16:40] hola [17:54] just installed xubuntu - been a linux user for years though - so, how do I re-arrange the sequence of icons that I have added to the "Panel"? [18:03] jpmh: Unless you are talking about system tray icons, right-click on them and then "Move" [18:04] krytarik: ty so much - as it happens, I discovered it EVENTUALLY while waiting for the response [18:06] so, as a linux user of years I am used to adding users with command line. It looks like there should be a gui way to do it, but when I click on the top left icon, then settings I do not see a choice for User. what am I missing? [18:07] Well, I do have "Users and Groups" in the Settings Manager. [18:10] well that doesn't help me much - r u just clikcking on the icon and then on Settings and expecting to see Users in the alphabetical list that appears? [18:12] https://xubuntu.github.io/xubuntu-docs/user/C/user-management.html - see here. [18:14] yep - and the Users and Groups does not show up - as it happens I'm not unhappy to use the command line [18:17] What version of Xubuntu did you pick? And have you got gnome-system-tools installed? [18:18] I grabbed the ISO for 22.04 from the downloads site and installed it- I have not installed gnome-system-tools - should I and if so how [18:21] HA - installed the system tools and now it is there - ty so much [18:22] https://cdimage.ubuntu.com/xubuntu/releases/22.04.1/release/xubuntu-22.04.1-desktop-amd64.manifest - well, it's definitely in the manifest though. [18:23] well, when I installed I did click the "minimal" option - so, probably why ot there [18:24] Ah yes, that'd leave out lots of stuff indeed! [18:25] apparently so. You would think that users is sort of something not to leave out, :) [18:25] I have to say that so far I am LOVING XUBUNTU [18:27] Well, as you said, users and their permissions can also be tweaked via command line, so this would fit the "minimal" definition.. :P [18:28] right - and I have been using linux at the command line for MANY years and am completely comfortable there [18:31] https://github.com/Xubuntu/xubuntu-seed/blob/jammy/desktop.minimal-remove - if you wonder what else you might be missing but do want. [18:34] a very useful page - ty [18:37] need to step away - ty SO MUCH for asll your help [18:38] Yw!
