DelemasI've got some Samba weirdness that doesn't make sense based on the smb.conf. Both client and server are Ubuntu 22.04. If I leverage an file explorer like Thunar file operations on the workgroup shares work. If I attempt to save files from either Thunderbird or Firefox I get access denied attempting to write the a share. I suspect some kind of security gone awry but I'm not sure what is doing it. Anyone know what I'm missing?02:43
JanCDelemas: are you using Firefox from a snap or from a normal package?02:53
DelemasMy systems only use normal packages. Hate snap with a passion.02:54
JanCI'm asking because the default Firefox comes as a snap now, and it might cause such issues...02:55

DelemasYes I really hated that when I upgraded. I promptly removed it and when back to packaged software.02:55
Delemassnapd isn't even installed here so it's definitely not that.02:58
JanCmaybe you can see on the server side if there are any errors logged there?03:00
DelemasI meant I went back to packaged software... Not sure if it's some kind of weird apparmor stuff or what... I haven't found anything useful so far. I may have to increase verbosity or investigate client side loging.03:02
JanCapparmor stuff would be logged client side03:03
DelemasHmm apparmor enabled but nothing in aa-status for firefox. It must be on because the Firefox apparmor.d config seems to limit writes to the downloads folder which is painfully excessive.03:18
Delemashmm perhaps painfully restrictive is a better word...03:21
DelemasAh well thanks for the help JanC. Disabling apparmor didn't help so it's not that. I reenabled it. Tomorrow problem I guess. ttyl03:47
