arraybolt3OK so I've been noticing some awfully strange behavior with my touchpad lately. Kubuntu 22.04, hardware is Kubuntu Focus XE. What's happening is, for no apparent reason that I can see, the touchpad suddenly stops responding entirely. If I switch to a TTY and then back to the desktop, it resumes normal functionality. It *also* strangely will work if I press and hold Ctrl - holding Ctrl makes it01:38
arraybolt3function normally, releasing it makes it freeze again. I don't know what I'm doing to get it into this state, any ideas?01:38

keithzgHmm how might I kill the Plasma system tray? Under Wayland my 22.10 install some things get very . . . crashy, and I don't have a dock currently thanks to that, but if I run tint2 instead I get no systray and it claims something else is already providing the systray---even if I kill plasmashell.03:21
valoriehmmm, keithzg - maybe ask in #kde ? might be more people awake in there03:49
valorieit's been a few years since plasmashell was crashy for me and I have forgotten the easy way to restart it properly03:50
keithzgOh I'm not even trying to restart it currently hehe03:51

BluesKajHi all13:35
IrcsomeBot<lord chencho> Hi! (re @IrcsomeBot: <ender_> hello)14:46
mcjHi all. I am attempting to play .flac files from my NAS which I am connected to via SMB. It seems that no matter what I try, that I cannot play files directly from the SMB share and must copy to local storage. VLC errors out with an improper syntax error. Any tips?14:47
mcjMore specifically, I enabled logging in VLC and recieve the following "smb error: open failed for 'fileserv.local/zzz.flac' (Invalid argument)"14:48
mcjThe VLC app reports that Dolphin is indeed passing the smb:// prefix to VLC but the log doesn't show that and states an invalid argument. So I am windering if it is an issue with Dolphin not passing the smb:// prefix.14:48
iomari891Greetings, When I lock screen, passwords no longer work. I ave to exit to a terminal and unlock my session. Additionally, my lock screen no longer shows any backround. Only black wit the password banner. Any suggestions?15:01

keithzgmcj: VLC has always been a bit wonky for me in that regard, so I've tended to avoid it so can't offer any direct advice on that matter, BUT here's a workaround: you could just mount the SMB share locally! A CIFS mount would probably work, or an autofs SMB mount a la https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Autofs23:30
keithzgmcj: That way, your OS is taking care of the actual file operations and such, and VLC simply sees the files as if they're local files (so you'll get the same behaviour as if you copied them, without having to copy them). Perhaps not ideal, but I'd be shocked if it didn't work.23:31
