I make extensive and intensive use of ALT+TAB (lets call it AT) to switch between applications. I makes my workflow so much faster and convenient. I have updated Lubuntu recently to 22.04.1 LTS and I find that somehow that AT is not working if I do it very quickly. More specifically, if the time during which the ALT and TAB keys are pressed simultaneously is too short, then the application does not switch (although I do see t [08:16] [telegram] Any ideas? [08:26] [telegram] ok I found the error [08:27] [telegram] or, the problem. [08:27] [telegram] I had installed compizconfig-settings-manager to fix another issue (more on this later), and it was somehow interferring. I uninstalled it and now my lubuntu flies free and speedy as always!! [08:28] [telegram] If you are curious, the reason to install compizconfig-settings-manager [08:32] [telegram] anyway, another question if I may. In my MS Windows era, I used to enjoy a silly functionality: when you pressed CTRL the cursor arrow would highlight (or a colored circle) would appear around it) to visually locate the arrow immediately. This is incredibly useful when you're working with many windows and 2 monitors and get lost in some application that kind of hides the arrow. [08:32] [telegram] I wish I could have that in Lubuntu... any suggestion? [09:11] @Rodrigo: That sounds possible, but complicated as Lubuntu doesn't have specific support for that... yet. But I found a tool that may do the trick. [09:13] @Rodrigo: WARNING: Use this tool at your own risk, it is NOT in the Ubuntu repositories and I have not verified its safety. It looks like it's probably OK though, it has lots of stars on GitHub and it appears to have been written by a user with lots of reputation on Unix & Linux Stack Exchange. [10:39] pavucontrol is not showing anything weird [10:39] pavucontrol is not showing input to be disabled, but it indicates that nothing is being recorded [10:41] https://mictests.com/ is not showing anything when I attached webcom [10:41] webcam [10:41] `sox -t alsa default test.wav` is not recording anything with either webcam or without it [10:50] I am also trying to setup https://askubuntu.com/questions/1439526/lubuntu-microphone-no-capturing-any-audio-at-all-both-webcam-and-internal-one [10:54] I will try to reboot and disconnect monitors [13:35] [telegram] @arraybolt3: THANKS! I understand. I will try :) (re @lubuntu_bot: (irc) @Rodrigo: WARNING: Use this tool at your own risk, it is NOT in the Ubuntu repositories and I have not verified its safety. [17:10] [telegram] Do you think we should use encryption with Lubuntu? [17:12] @Thanos: Using Lubuntu's full drive encryption is generally a good idea if you are able to reliably remember the password you set for the drive. [17:13] [telegram] Is this slowing down the system? (re @lubuntu_bot: (irc) @Thanos: Using Lubuntu's full drive encryption is generally a good idea if you are able to reliably remember the password you set for the drive.) [17:14] Not hardly, it shouldn't be noticable on most systems. [17:24] [telegram] I am thinking the case not of forgot the password but if something goes wrong and cannot recover (re @lubuntu_bot: (irc) Not hardly, it shouldn't be noticable on most systems.) [19:52] I'm having problems with bluetooth. [19:52] I managed to pair some headphones and connect for 40 mins then the connection was lost. [19:52] the headphones are on and visible to other hosts but not to lubuntu bluedevil wizard [19:53] they are still on the list of paired devices in bluetoothctl but connecting doesnt work [20:18] problem half solved. I've used blueman-manager instead [20:18] connected === arraybolt3_ is now known as arraybolt3
