[21:51] hi everyone [21:53] I've just installed ubuntu 22.10 and installed the ubuntustudio-controls package. I noticed that autojack wasn't working. I ran it by itself in the terminal and noticed it was crashing. Here's my output [21:53] * hellocatfood[m] posted a file: (1KiB) < https://libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/v3/download/matrix.org/WMRWRedhUfcvrAbRUoatlwwU/error.txt > [21:54] hellocatfood: The problem is because it's untested with Pipewire which is the default audio server in Ubuntu 22.10, so there's bound to be some problems. [21:55] We don't really have a solution either. [21:55] Also, ubuntustudio-controls is long depricated in favor of studio-controls. [21:55] But, studio-controls will not work with Pipewire. [21:56] For your own sanity, uninstall it and install pipewire-jack if you're wanting to use JACK applications with pipewire. [21:59] thanks, will give this a try [22:00] I was using the pipewire ppa with studio controls back in 22.04 and it worked all fine so not sure what has changed since pipewire became official [22:01] It wasn't the sound server. Now it is. [22:01] Pulseaudio was removed as a result. [22:01] ah [22:02] But, basically, because we don't run Pipewire in Ubuntu Studio, we can't support it here. [22:02] I see [22:03] Might be worth replying to this person who seems to be experiencing the same issue as me https://askubuntu.com/questions/1438092/after-update-to-22-10-autojack-is-not-starting [22:04] I'll get to it when I can, but I'm fresh back from the Ubuntu Summit in Prague. [22:04] cool [22:04] This isn't my day job. [22:04] understood! [22:05] in the meantime I might actually downgrade back to 22.04 [22:06] Until we get some issues with Firewire device support sorted for Studio Controls, Pipewire support is a no-go. [22:09] yeah, sounds a good idea [22:10] Think I'll wait until 23.04 to upgrade! [22:10] Good plan. :) [22:54] 24.04 here. :-D
