chilukhey folks 6ghz wifi seems to be broken on the linux-oem-2b kernel this is appears to be related to https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/developers/Regulatory 00:08
chilukI have an Intel AX211 that works fine with 6ghz on the 5.15 kernel but breaks with the 6.0 -oemb kernel00:09

chilukthis seems to like crda and some other tools need to be packaged up and put in backports.00:10
chilukhmm I just found https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/jammy/+source/crda/+bug/1958918 ... looks like vorlon is already looking into it?00:12
-ubottu:#ubuntu-kernel- Launchpad bug 1958918 in crda (Ubuntu Jammy) "dependency on crda obsolete according to Debian" [High, New]00:12
chilukapw sounds like you did the kernel side of the work .  Do you have any thoughts here?00:19
apwchiluk, that fix ws about us installing crda to load regulatory database, when the kernel now loads it directly00:21
chilukright... it's clearly loading something wrong.00:21
chilukat least with the 6.0 kernel00:22
chilukapw I know it's late for you.00:22
chilukso we removed crda for Jammy00:22
chilukand the kernel is supposed to be loading regulatory information directly through what mechanism?00:23
chilukbecause that mechanism seems broken on 6.000:23
chiluk``iw reg get`` shows all the 6ghz channels as disabled.00:23
chilukactually now that I'm booted back into 6.0.0-1007-oem it's ```sudo iw phy0 channels``` that shows all the 6ghz channels disabled.00:29
chilukiw reg get doesn't even list them00:29
chilukcfg80211: Loaded X.509 cert 'sforshee: 00b28ddf47aef9cea7'  I assume sforshee compiled the regdb 00:32
sarnoldand I'm *really* hoping we still have a way to do whatever needs doing now that he's found greener pastures00:34
chiluklol.  I was unaware that he has left you.  At least his visage is still in channel.00:47
sarnoldI wonder if that's a forgotten VM somewhere :)00:50
chiluksssh... don't scare it away.00:50
chilukproblem exists in 5.19 sitting in jammy-proposed as well.00:51
chilukI'll open a ticket once I have things more narrowed down.  I just wiish there was more output from the kernel about this.00:52
chilukhttps://paste.ubuntu.com/p/TpBkyrnfvT/00:52
chilukFor reference this is what I'm seeing on 5.19 and 6.000:52
andjjj23is there by chance an issue tracking the problem with mainline builds?01:30

chilukandjjj23: I checked bugzilla.kernel.org and didn't find anything.04:09
chilukI did more digging and narrowed the fix to dropping early in v5.1604:09
chilukthen I found https://community.frame.work/t/kernel-5-16-6ghz-disabled-ax210/15675 which points at 698b166ed3464e1604a0e6a3e23cc1b529a5adc104:10
chilukwhich corroborates my findings even though I haven't personally verified.04:10
chilukissue still exists with linux-stable kernels all the way up to 6.0.9, so I'll work the problem with upstream first.04:50
chilukOpened https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21675305:09
-ubottu:#ubuntu-kernel- bugzilla.kernel.org bug 216753 in Networking "6e 6 ghz bands are disabled since 5.16 on intel ax211" [Normal, New]05:09
andjjj23chiluk: oh, we may be talking about different issues :) the one i'm referring to is the lack of a 6.1rc7 build on https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=M;O=D05:22
andjjj23but actually, a daily build has now showed up, so maybe the newer 6.1rcX isn't far behind05:23
