[00:05] is there something I can do to restore a KDE Plasma pannel that was accidentally unintentionally deleted during reconfiguring the displays? [00:57] rit: Reset the the theme. [00:58] System Setting > Appearance, then select the theme and choose to "Use desktop layout from theme". This will reset your layout, which may or may not be acceptable to you. Otherwise, you will need to add a new panel and reconfigure it. === william is now known as Willy-- === Lord_of_Life_ is now known as Lord_of_Life === john is now known as Guest8559 === Guest8559 is now known as midn87 === john is now known as Guest4424 [13:11] Read apt man page. (re @rrsriram: ) [13:13] Yeah [13:13] Display port to monitor [13:15] Hi all [13:18] Not working though. No sound from the soundbar (re @biteofpie: Nvdiai HDMI port to a soundbar?) [13:24] check your devices on pavucontrol [13:25] The sound bar keeps moving. But no sound. [13:28] keeps moving?? [13:29] Indicator for sound bar. [13:29] then check the soundbar volume ctrl [13:29] At full. [13:30] pavucontrol? [13:31] Okay. Better to show as picture. Let me get on the comp in a couple of minutes [13:31] just install pavucontrol [13:32] Already installed [13:32] I don't need pictures [13:35] https://irc-attachments.kde.org/853f82d6/file_61988.jpg [13:35] https://irc-attachments.kde.org/3322b1be/file_61989.jpg [13:36] In the output devices the indicator below is showing sound. It keeps moving. But there is no sound output to the soundbar [13:42] open alsamixer in the terminal and make sure automute is disabled. is the soundbar also connected to aTV ? [13:42] Its connected only to the comp [13:43] what does aplay -l show? [13:45] aplay -l : https://irc-attachments.kde.org/ce8e5d9d/file_61990.jpg [13:46] alsamixer output : https://irc-attachments.kde.org/664276be/file_61991.jpg [13:52] then check your nvidia gtaohics audio settings [13:52] fraphics [13:52] oops [13:53] graphics [13:53] I have the nvidia settings open but dont see any option for audio there [13:53] https://irc-attachments.kde.org/c04549c9/file_61992.jpg [13:56] did you install the nvidia driver available for your card? try the nvidia settings config [13:56] The about is the nvidia settings [14:00] alsamixer - auto mute is disabled. : https://irc-attachments.kde.org/c5487907/file_61994.jpg [14:05] have you tried the onboard audio out? [14:06] Yes. Earlier i used to use the motherboard's audio out to the soundbar and it was working. Only after connecting the HDMI the sound output is gone. === Guest4424 is now known as midn87 [14:09] Probably will use that instead of the hdmi. I thought the sound quality would be much better through digital signal. [14:11] The aux port works perfectly. Just the hdmi is not. [14:11] I haven't used a dedicated graphics card for 5yrs since I built this pc. The onboard graphics and audio are powerful enough to use the TV as a monitor and a 5.1 audio sound system [14:13] nvidia has become difficult to configure the last few yrs as well [14:13] Oh yeah. [14:13] yup [14:14] I built this system in 2015. Upgraded the CPU in 2018 to 2700x and then in 2020 upgraded the graphics card to 1650. Not for gaming at all. [14:16] well, maybe you could try your existing onboard graphics and audio without the nvidia gpu [14:17] nvidia han't been very helpful as they used to be for Linux users [14:19] 2700x does not have integrated graphics so onboard hdmi wont work i guess [14:19] you can keep trying to find a solution for the hdmi nvidia audio but I don't have an solution for you atm [14:20] I have been trying. last 1 weeks it has been my only problem. [14:20] Thanks for the help. [14:20] sorry i couldn't come up with an answer :/ [14:22] No issues. Linux most of the time makes you better. Everyday is a learning process [14:25] for sure [14:32] @rrsriram, do you wait at least 10secs for audio and does the soundbar have a mute button ? [14:44] Soundbar does not have a mute. Shifted from HDMI to aux and the sound output works [14:47] cool "-) [14:48] ot you could also use the Headphone port of the audio from the machine to RCA connectors on the sound bar. [14:49] That is what I have done. Line out to RCA on the soundbar [14:49] good old analog :-) [15:01] Absolutely [15:25] Ok thank you (re @biteofpie: Read apt man page. It's simple.) === a is now known as Guest11 [16:39] Freiheit für Deutschland von der Point Alpha Stadt Geisa [18:39] Hello, quick  questionif anyone can help. It has probably been asked before, but I can't seem to find the answer. Long story short, I just made a fresh install from usb on my laptop. Install went without a hitch. Upon reboot, I get dark screen with grub> .... Then I am asked to "load kernel first"     Help please :) [18:47] * alkisg wonders why people prefix their loooong problems with "quick question" :D [18:48] A quick question is something that can be answered by yes/no, not something that will need 30 minutes of instructions! [18:50] quick question, are you always so helpful? [18:51] Quick answer, I help around 50 people per day [18:53] Hello, I just installed Kubuntu LTS from the Kubuntu website (on my previously windows machine). Everything works except the speakers/sound system. Can anyone help me out? [18:54] I've watched some YouTube videos about pulseaudio and alsamixer but I haven't been able to get audio yet. [19:28] hey all, I just rebooted my kubuntu (after installing updates), and X somehow was not started [19:28] not sure why... [19:29] switching to a different tty and starting x with startx seems to have worked [19:29] also, rolling back to a snapshot from 2022.12.01 also worked [19:30] maybe this isn't kubuntu specific [19:34] also, I'm using the nvidia drivers bundled with ubuntu, with an nvidia card, not nouveau [21:58] ciao
