gz1[m]It works on browsers!18:19
gz1[m]On my US keyboard with Portuguese layout if i type " ] \ | " i get " á ã â ".18:19
gz1[m]All works well with Kubuntu. What setting/config file do i compare with Kubuntu so i can apply it in ubuntu studio?18:19

gz1[m]got it!18:35
Eickmeyer[m]gz1: Unfortunately, I don't think you're going to find an answer here. I'm the person who came up with the configurations, which were forked directly from Kubuntu.  There are no portugese-specific confugurations at all in either Kubuntu or Ubuntu Studio, so that tells me there might be a misconfiguration in either your ~/.config folder or ~/.config/kdedefaults. 18:35
gz1[m]i'm new to linux, but i can only confirm the kubuntu install i have in virtualbox works out of the box18:37
Eickmeyer[m]gz1: That's because, in your Ubuntu Studio install, there's likely a misconfiguration in your home folder (denoted by ~/).18:37
Eickmeyer[m]I'm part of the Kubuntu team as well.18:38
gz1[m]it only worked once in studio - then never worked again. Glitch behaviour18:38
gz1[m]that's makes sense. i am checking that now18:38
Eickmeyer[m]I'm telling you that there are no differences in terms of locallization.18:38
gz1[m]100%18:38
Eickmeyer[m]A good way to check is to make a new user and log-in as that user.18:38
gz1[m]great idea18:39
gz1[m]what file can i copy from new user to the one i'm using?18:39
Eickmeyer[m]It wouldn't be a file, but a whole folder. It'd be hidden and labeled .config in your home folder.18:40
gz1[m]yes, i'm inside it18:40
Eickmeyer[m]As far as which file does the keyboard localization, I'm not sure which one does it.18:41
Eickmeyer[m]But I have reason to believe you have a corrupt file somewhere.18:41
gz1[m]i read in a stackexchange thread it's this one kxkbrc18:42
gz1[m]-------------... (full message at <https://libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/v3/download/libera.chat/04cbf7ba8ed474a42b2fda09689e7fe268db44cf>)18:42
Eickmeyer[m]If that's the case, then try deleting it. Worst that will happen is it will default to your regional defaults. It might also exist in .config/kdedefaults, delete that one too.18:43
gz1[m]is there a way to reset to default without breaking all tyhe apps i have inside .config ?18:43
Eickmeyer[m]If you delete the whole folder, it'll delete all of your configs, so no.18:43
gz1[m]no. not in kdedefaults18:43
gz1[m]Eickmeyer[m]: yes sure. i'm aware of this18:44
Eickmeyer[m]Ok, then deleting that might be enough. But it does look like your LayoutList is preferring US.18:44
gz1[m]Eickmeyer[m]: yes so annoying my god. 18:44
Eickmeyer[m]Then reverse that. Make it pt,us.18:44
gz1[m]why doesn't it respect manual change? it always switches back to us sometimes after 5 seconds18:44
gz1[m]done!18:45
Eickmeyer[m]That's weird.18:45
gz1[m]it should respect manual switching tough18:45
Eickmeyer[m]I'd think so. What are you using to switch it?18:45
gz1[m]Eickmeyer[m]: yes i read a thread on this from ubuntu18:45
gz1[m]i believe sometimes makes this happen. let me find the thread18:45
Eickmeyer[m]There should be a keyboard icon in your system tray (upper right corner by default) that should let you switch it. This is the ibus indicator.18:47
gz1[m]yes i have it18:47
gz1[m]this is exactly the issue i also have18:47
gz1[m]https://askubuntu.com/questions/1404194/ubuntu-studio-22-04-forces-keyboard-layout-to-english18:47
gz1[m]i followed the solution but still the same persistent issue18:48
gz1[m]something is conflicting18:48
Eickmeyer[m]I'm not sure it's conflicting, but maybe a bug upstream in KDE.18:48
Eickmeyer[m]So, did reversing pt and us help you?18:49
gz1[m]i am testing that now18:49
gz1[m]im on Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS18:49
Eickmeyer[m]Good to know.18:49
gz1[m]let me reboot18:49
gz1[m]be back in 2min18:49
gz1[m][Layout]... (full message at <https://libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/v3/download/libera.chat/4c55db5c5631cc9c311b287c14c17548a645ac8b>)19:41
gz1[m]still jumps to US all the time19:41
gz1[m] * ----------------------------19:41
gz1[m]still jumps to US all the time19:41
gz1[m]and the portuguese chars in questions are still not working19:42
Eickmeyer[m]gz1: It's very possible you may have found an upstream bug, but before we go down that road, try deleting ~/.config/kxkbrc first, relog, and try setting your keyboard layout via system settings again.20:01
gz1[m]i did exactly that and same issue!22:07
Eickmeyer[m]gz1: Ok, that tells me this is likely an upstream issue with a KDE Plasma component, but I'm not sure which one. I might have to discuss this.22:18
Eickmeyer[m]gz1: In the meantime, you might try asking in #ubuntu-pt:libera.chat or #ubuntu-br:libera.chat as those are the Portuguese communities and are very active. They might have an idea.22:22
