[13:41] Hi all [14:02] Heyo BluesKaj [14:03] @RikMills is there anything I can do for the 23.04 cycle currently? [14:03] I should check on the artwork stuff. [14:03] That might be good [14:04] At the moment we are mostly waiting on Plasma 5.27 and the frameworks that supports it [14:04] I need to find out if it is even available yet. [14:05] And new QT in proposed [14:05] I can't boot a live disk of Kubuntu 22.04 or 22.10 on my HP Omen... [14:05] It runs about of memory due to a GRUB bug [14:05] Urgh [14:06] Yeaaa [14:06] I had a working 22.04 install but after some updates and a reboot it went down. [14:07] Currently I have Pop 22.04 on it as that boots fine. Funny enough Nobara booted fine as well though it doesn't boot. [14:09] hey @ahoneybun [14:11] heyo! [14:14] @RikMills I want to get it booting again! [14:14] how much memory for those? [14:17] and is there a link to the bug? [14:20] I think this one? https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1842320 [14:20] -ubottu:#kubuntu-devel- Launchpad bug 1842320 in OEM Priority Project "Can't boot: 'error: out of memory.' immediately after the grub menu" [Critical, Triaged] [14:20] Looks like there might be a fix in 23.04. [14:22] http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/main/g/grub2/grub2_2.06-2ubuntu16/changelog [14:23] I guess this is a reason to test 23.04 haha [14:23] right. lets hope so :) (re @ahoneybun: Looks like there might be a fix in 23.04.) [14:23] I'll test with a daily build tonight if I remember or on the weekend. [14:24] I would like to start having a Kubuntu Manual for reach release maybe starting with 23.04. [14:24] This HP Omen with a 4K display is coming in handy as I can write about my experience and workarounds with it. [14:25] Main question is how many branches can I keep in Github haha [15:34] @RikMills I tried to log into our twitter, can you send the code? [15:34] I'm wondering about posting our releases like 5.26.5. [15:38] Later. Not at home right now (re @ahoneybun: @RikMills I tried to log into our twitter, can you send the code?) [15:42] Ahh no worries [16:06] Does anybody know the purpose of /etc/fonts/conf.avail/56-kubuntu-noto.conf? I'm getting user reports (via Twitter, of all places -_- ) of it breaking fonts in web browsers, and recently a bug report was filed about hinting breakages. [16:07] (we have an identical 56-ubuntustudio-noto.conf from the Ubuntu Studio fork of the settings 2 years ago) [16:07] Seems to be from 2010, so perhaps a relic of Plasma 4? [16:18] Eickmeyer: it gives better noto rendering [16:19] RikMills: You might want to check the numerous bug reports against kubuntu-settings then. [16:19] Seems people are disagreeing. [16:19] also see: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kubuntu-settings/1:23.04.2 [16:19] that bug is not about noto [16:20] It's about roboto, and the config mentions robot. [16:20] *roboto [16:21] Eickmeyer: look at the diff [16:21] Ok, I see. [16:21] it is matching https://invent.kde.org/neon/neon/settings/-/commit/b52ae1e91dd3cd0bdf7f11d6d36fde0141be1afc [16:21] -ubottu:#kubuntu-devel- Commit b52ae1e in neon/neon/settings "remove the roboto hinting rules" [16:22] In that case, it needs to be turned into an SRU and we both need to do it. [16:23] going to test the change 1st [16:23] but need to faff with a real machine [16:24] * Eickmeyer could've used a heads-up about this, the guy's been bugging me on Twitter [16:25] BTW, it's in /etc, so you're going to have to force the overwrite somehow. [16:34] sent (re @ahoneybun: Ahh no worries) [16:44] I took time to update the artwork on this page: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Artwork/Official [16:44] Eickmeyer: no, I won't [16:45] if the user hasn't modified it, it will cleanly change [16:47] I've found that to be not necessarily true. A similar change in a patch to sddm caused a breakage to Lubuntu's updater because it has no facility for prompting the user. [16:48] I'm pretty sure it will be fine via update with discover or apt. but again, I will test [16:48] I'm also going to test, but via PPA. [16:48] Eickmeyer: thanks for mentioning :) [16:48] You're welcome. I really hate it when people try to hit me with bug reports outside of launchpad. (grinds my gears0 [16:51] Eickmeyer: apt handled it fine [16:52] I'll try discover later when it has migrated from proposed [16:52] I'll try via discover from my end, on lunar. [16:53] Package is only just now uploaded to PPA. [16:54] BTW, if you all want to do the switch to Pipewire in Lunar, I can help with that. [16:55] Eickmeyer: we switched in Kinetic [16:56] Oh! That's news that never really hit. [17:15] we jumped with Ubuntu and IIRC mate and some others [17:18] Eickmeyer: update via discover applied correctly as well [17:18] RikMills: That's excellent news. [17:18] should probably test with jammy though, in case there so issue with apt there [17:19] there is [19:17] RikMills: Overwrote just fine on my end too. [19:42] \o/
