IrcsomeBot<linuxophil> Hey guys! I am a happy and very grateful Kubuntu user! My upgrade from Kubuntu 20.04 to 22.04 shows this helpful message, what would you suggest I do?12:13
IrcsomeBot<linuxophil> https://irc-attachments.kde.org/34c44b1e/file_63062.jpg12:14
diogenes_Vx15linuxophil, run: sudo apt full-upgrade12:15
IrcsomeBot<linuxophil> Right. Thanks diogenes! So is this a known issue and the GUI way of updating not working as of yet? (re @IrcsomeBot: <diogenes_Vx15> linuxophil, run: sudo apt full-upgrade)12:17
diogenes_Vx15linuxophil, don't know i rarely use GUI :)12:18
IrcsomeBot<Crewdevelop> It doesn't helped (re @IrcsomeBot: <diogenes_Vx15> Crewdevelop, run in a terminal the following command: lsblk -f | nc termbin.com 9999)12:18

IrcsomeBot<linuxophil> Normal updates just updated the updater!12:18
IrcsomeBot<linuxophil> Now it prompts me for the admin password.12:19
diogenes_Vx15Crewdevelop, it is not for helping it is for us to get some information :)12:19
IrcsomeBot<linuxophil> That was it!12:19
IrcsomeBot<linuxophil> The upgrade tool wasn't asking sudo permissions.12:19
IrcsomeBot<linuxophil> Now things are moving. Will report back once the new system is running.12:20
IrcsomeBot<linuxophil> ...or borked! 😉12:20

diogenes_Vx15Crewdevelop, you didn't understand what i was asking for.12:22
IrcsomeBot<Crewdevelop> yeah i didn't (re @IrcsomeBot: <diogenes_Vx15> Crewdevelop, you didn't understand what i was asking for.)12:25

IrcsomeBot<linuxophil> LOL!13:01

IrcsomeBot<linuxophil> is the wireguard snap working fine?13:11
lordievaderI'm using the apt packages, but then again i don't like snap...13:51

ben__anyone able to help with xrdp?19:42
ElliriaThat's definitely outside of my abilities.19:43
ElliriaIf you don't get help in here, though, you might want to try the #ubuntu channel, which is much more active than this one.19:44
ben__thanks19:47
alkisgben__: ask and we'll see... I've used xrdp a bit19:49
ben__So, I installed xRDP to my machine. I enabled the service and restarted my pc19:51
ben__I attempt to connect to my machine using RDP on my windows machine. Does not seem to find my computer.19:51
ben__I log in to see whats going on, and I found that xrdp is running. I attempt connection again, and it is able to connect. I can see my startup screen show up on my remote windows machine. Then it goes black.19:52
ben__My understanding is that the black screen shows up because I am logged in locally, but when I log out locally, I can no longer connect on my remote machine.19:53
ben__I can only connect successfully when I am logged in locally, but I know it does not work when I am logged in locally and remotely.19:53
ElliriaSome Googling here gives some possibilities. One is that you shouldn't log in with the same account remotely and locally and the other is that you should "Open Remote Desktop Connection. In the dialog box, click Show Options. Switch to the Experience tab, then uncheck the Persistent bitmap caching option."20:01
ElliriaNo idea if either of those will help.20:02
alkisgben__: in general xrdp is used for new sessions; i.e. you login locally as user1, then remotely as user220:03
alkisgAnd, you're supposed to be able to login remotely as any user, when no local user has logged in20:03
alkisgI.e. it's not for screen sharing of an existing session20:03
ben__alkisg: I know that I should not be logged into the same user that I am remoting into. The problem is that the connection is only successful when I am logged in locally20:05
alkisgYou need to check the xrdp logs to see what's going on with that20:05
alkisgIf you happen to have a linux pc nearby, or a linux live usb, you may also try to connect to xrdp with xfreerdp , it might mention the errors there too20:05
ben__ok20:06
ben__I am going to have to restart my pc to try this20:06
ElliriaApparently, you can configure it to allow the same user to log on remotely and locally: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iP337KhImOY20:06
ben__interesting20:10
