[01:12] Oh, thanks, Eickmeyer, thanks to you I discovered the ubottu bot. I think I might use it at some point for consultation. 🤖 [03:18] I mean, it's just a factoid bot, it doesn't do much. === Eickmeyer5 is now known as Eickmeyer [09:35] "> <@eickmeyer:matrix.org..." <- I can confirm my plasma starts with an empty session [09:35] still fluid is there, chewing away at my resources [10:13] can somone want to help me something about wine and vst? [14:49] * UnkleBonehead[m] uploaded an image: (57KiB) < https://libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/v3/download/matrix.org/honFTRHCQiMzjwzrxXqaQDWA/image.png > [14:49] I am running UbuntuStudio installed on top of Ubuntu 22.04 and have fluidsynth running as default as well. Although I can only see it using RaySession or qjackctl. It does not show on Carla. So I cant tell if its using any resources. [14:50] * Ubuntu 22.04 (Gnome) and have [15:01] "I am running UbuntuStudio..." <- to see the resources it uses, i open a terminal and run `top` [16:59] sakrecoer[bpist]: what is the user then? [17:01] actually, if it can be seen using qjackctl (as a jack client with any application) then in theory, it should be running as the current user [17:13] UnkleBonehead[m]: I don't see that here, either in 22.04 or 22.10. My 22.10 install is a fresh studio install and I do not remember if my 22.04 is studio on top of kubuntu upgraded from 20.04 or a fresh install at this point. [17:16] I can remember timidity running by default in days of old (not really sure why) Are there games that put out midi and expect a system synth? PW would make that functionality unobtrusive(ish) I guess [17:17] I thought the use of system synths died soon after sound card makers stopped including HW synths and including sound in games became easier anyway. [17:31] Pipewire isn't default in any flavor in 22.04. [17:32] Only in 22.10 was that introduced. [17:58] "Settoshi (UTC+1): what is the..." <- my user, indeed. [18:39] "to see the resources it uses..." <- It doesnt show in top either. [18:45] * UnkleBonehead[m] uploaded an image: (645KiB) < https://libera.ems.host/_matrix/media/v3/download/matrix.org/tBUjhWtMzLmWHjdmnEASgxUc/image.png > [18:45] There. You can see it in qjackctl but not in carla or top. [19:22] If so many things didn't build on fluidsynth's libraries, I'd be very inclined to SRU it if I could find the fix. Unfortunately, doing any bugfix for fluidsynth will require rebuilding a bunch of packages, which makes an SRU for fluidsynth impossible. 23.04 will have a newer fluidsynth which likely has this bug fixed.
