docI keep getting packages that are being held back and have to be resolved manually. What's going on with that?18:41
rfm!phased | doc18:44
ubottudoc: Since Ubuntu 21.04, APT now implements phased updates. This can hold back updates on some systems while they are being phased in. See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/PhasedUpdates for more info.18:44
rfmdoc, "apt-cache policy <package>" will show if the update is being phased18:45
docrfm: Thanks for that, that link is really useful at explaining what's going on. They should really put that link into the apt upgrade output18:49
docshould I see the word phased in the policy output?18:50
docI see 5 items in the entry table and the third is **-d18:50
doc*version table18:50
rfmdoc, yeah, it should say phased and the percentage it's at.  the stars show the version selected.  I suppose it's possible that a non-phased package could depend on a phased version,  It's also possible you have some other problem (like a package version from a ppa) that is gumming up things18:55
docrfm: ok, thanks for the info. Will look into it later.18:59
_D_Hello everyone. Has anyone successfully activated hardware speakers on Xubuntu 22.04.2? I've been trying to find a solution across so many websites to no avail23:11
_D_I found this long thread along the way. Haven't tried solutions from there https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/486154. But it does seem like it may be highly outdated23:13
