IrcsomeBot<linuxophil> Thanks TonReyn! Is there a KDE equivalent that you know of? It feels weird to assume that that doesn’t exist in KDE land. But I actually cannot find it googling. (re @IrcsomeBot: <tomreyn> on gnome you would probably be using nm-connection-editor)02:01

IrcsomeBot<rcpp85> You can configure one in the connection manager. If I recall, having wire guard installed you only have to create a new VPN connection from the menu. IrcsomeBot<linuxophil> Hi Richardo! Thanks gor answering! That is what I did even before posting here the first time. It wouldn’t work unfortunately. (re @rcpp85: You can configure one in the connection manager. If I recall, having wire guard installed you only have to create a new VPN connection from the menu.)02:33
IrcsomeBot<linuxophil> That was in Kubuntu 22.04 Plasma 5.24.7.02:36
IrcsomeBot<linuxophil> Maybe it is foxed in newer Plasma versions. I read somewhere that Plasma 5.27 has had a lot of work done in the network manager. Does anyone know if we are going to get Plasma 5.27 in Kubuntu 22.04 LTS since both are gonna be LTS and 5.27 apparently will be the last Plasma 5?02:38
IrcsomeBot<linuxophil> Maybe it is fixed in newer Plasma versions. I read somewhere that Plasma 5.27 has had a lot of work done in the network manager. Does anyone know if we are going to get Plasma 5.27 in Kubuntu 22.04 LTS since both are gonna be LTS and 5.27 apparently will be the last Plasma 5?02:38
IrcsomeBot<rcpp85> I was able to do it once, but I'm not on my PC now. It was straight forward. I use a commercial a VPN, so I am not sure if there could be difference between the server implementation/communication.02:38
IrcsomeBot<rcpp85> I am going to bed now. If I have a spare time tomorrow, I will try to revise my confs.02:40
IrcsomeBot<linuxophil> Maybe. I am using a vpn config file to a private router which acts as the wireguard server. Works beautifully on all things apple. And semi beautifully with the cli on Kubuntu.02:40
IrcsomeBot<linuxophil> Take your time! Nice chat! (re @rcpp85: I am going to bed now. If I have a spare time tomorrow, I will try to revise my confs.)02:40

BluesKajHi all12:30

IrcsomeBot<yossi_o> Hey,14:53
IrcsomeBot<yossi_o> Does anyone have experience with Forticlient VPN in Kubuntu 20.04?14:53
IrcsomeBot<yossi_o> I'm trying to connect using SSO and it fails.14:53
IrcsomeBot<yossi_o> When I try the same in Ubuntu 20.04, the connection succeeds.14:53
IrcsomeBot<yossi_o> Point of failure: "Confirmation" window for 'untrusted server'14:53
IrcsomeBot<yossi_o> After logging in to SSO (Microsoft) via the browser, the window is shown in Ubuntu, and once I click OK the process continues and the connection is established.14:53
IrcsomeBot<Omar> Hi17:12
IrcsomeBot<Omar> I restored my bios to BIOS default and now kubuntu isn't showing in the grub im on dell latitude 548017:14
mmikowskiOmar: Things to check: Make sure "Secure boot" is off. Make sure fast boot is off. If you have a mux, switch to Intel if available.17:18
IrcsomeBot<Omar> Secure boot is off17:20
IrcsomeBot<Omar> Fastboot is thorough17:21
mmikowskiOmar: fastboot should definitely be off. Also, look for MS-proprietary storage settings (RAID, etc) and turn those off. Also, IEFII should be preferred over legacy boot (that should be the default).17:37
mmikowskiAlso, write down you settings for next time :)17:37
IrcsomeBot<Omar> I fixed it17:51
mmikowskiOmar: What was the problem?17:56
IrcsomeBot<Omar> I figured out that i was using fedora grub which is messy i wanna use kubuntu grub but it doesn’t show fedora options can i add it manually ?17:57
IrcsomeBot<Omar> When i restored the bios there was only windows boot manager in boot sequence i add kubuntu grub then unchecked windows boot manager (re @IrcsomeBot: <mmikowski> Omar: What was the problem?)17:58
mmikowskiAh, well there you go :) As far as adding fedora options, you should be able to, but I can't help with that, got work projects.18:00
IrcsomeBot<Omar> Ok hope u do well on your projects  :-D (re @IrcsomeBot: <mmikowski> Ah, well there you go :) As far as adding fedora options, you should be able to, but I can't help with that, got work projects.)18:02
IrcsomeBot<Omar> Oh im sorry i didn't say thank you for helping me :-) (re @IrcsomeBot: <mmikowski> Omar: fastboot should definitely be off. Also, look for MS-proprietary storage settings (RAID, etc) and turn those off. Also, IEFII should be preferred over legacy boot (that should be the default).)18:03
mmikowskiOmar: You're welcome. No worries; I just didn't want you to wonder were I went :)18:06
IrcsomeBot<Omar> Thanks for being nice (re @IrcsomeBot: <mmikowski> Omar: You're welcome. No worries; I just didn't want you to wonder were I went :))18:12
IrcsomeBot<AllYourSymptomsAreBelongToUs> Cannot have spellchecking in kate! Aspell is installed and also the dictionaries. How to solve this?18:53
guruprasadOn my Kubuntu 22.10 installation running Plasma 5.27.3 via the backports PPA, I have `LANG` set to `en_IN.UTF-8` in `/etc/default/locale`. However, the `locale` command shows the value of `LANG` to be `en_IN` without the UTF-8 suffix. I am not sure what is overwriting the configured value. Any ideas?19:01
valorieguruprasad: you might check the permissions in your ~$user20:01
valorieit's possible that sudo was used when it should not have been, and changed permissions in your settings file20:02
valorieconfigs in general are just text files which you can examine in .config20:03
mmikowskiHey gang, I rarely use Kate, but I do like its ability to format printing raw text. However, I can't find a way to set defaults. The good news is on a given machine, the defaults "stick" once I set it up. The bad news is I use multiple devices every day, and I also want to share settings with a team. Outside of copying the katerc file, anyone have21:51
mmikowskiadvice? And yes, I have looked in Kate > Settings, but no dice.21:51
mmikowskiI can pretty easily write a kwriteconfig5 utility (did that for kfocus-reset-effects) for this purpose.21:55
mmikowskiIf anyone has a hint, please share. If not and anyone wants a kwriteconfig5 script, let me know.21:55
mmikowski:)21:55
arraybolt3mmikowski: Format printing raw text? I may just be tired, but I'm not sure what that is.22:08
arraybolt3Is it printing as in printing to paper?22:08
mmikowskiarraybolt3: Just printing text with borders without changing the source material.22:08
mmikowskiUnlike libreoffice, etc.22:08
arraybolt3Ah.22:09
mmikowskiI gotta run, bbiab22:09
mmikowskiarraybolt3: so yeah, just printing regular text without altering the file.22:50
mmikowskiIf kate had printing profiles or save-as-default buttons, then we'd be all set - all the capability is there.22:50
mmikowskiUnfortunately, there doesn't appear to be an interface for it.22:51
mmikowskiI could probably whip up a work-around in an hour or so.  But wanted to see if I'm missing anything.22:51
mmikowskifwiw, the printer settings are very rich, and include wonderful capabilities like language syntax coloring. That's far better than than libreoffice which is monochrome AFAIK.22:53
