[00:22] algum brasileiro ai ? === ElizaHofer1 is now known as ElizaHofer [06:52] alguien me puede decir como dar acceso a un programa a xserver? [06:53] falla el display en GUI [09:25] diogenes_Vx15 Unfortunately I was unable to boot into Linux antiX. I tried it several times. Setup looked normal. And Boot screen kinda normal. But as soon as it informed with text notifications about booting then all I saw is black screen. [09:25] It doesn't work. [09:27] Tomasm21, ok let's see your full specs: inxi -Fxxc0 | nc termbin.com 9999 [09:27] that's what i should have started with. [09:29] https://termbin.com/uipg [09:29] Currently I;m from Xubuntu. [09:36] Tomasm21, dpkg -l | grep -i nvidia | nc termbin.com 9999 [09:37] https://termbin.com/86z7 [09:41] Tomasm21, run: nvidia-settings [09:41] https://imgur.com/68SotU6.png [09:51] Tomasm21, something is weird there, because there is no PRIME support which means we cannot switch between intel and nvidia, which is not good at all, this might be caused either by the driver or by the BIOS settings, so, now go to BIOS and look for any graphics related settings, something like: use onboard/integrated/dedicated/optimus/both, different BIOSes might have different names for that, you need to choose (in [09:51] better case) both or optimus or (if there is no both or optimus) integrated/onboard. [09:52] also look for audio related stuff like onboard card and so on. [10:45] diogenes_Vx15, I was searching through my BIOS and I haven't noticed anything you mentioned. There are no graphics or sound settings. Or maybe I was searching wrong. I haven't checked Q-Flash since I don't know what is there and it sounds tough. Here are the photos of my BIOS: https://imgur.com/a/vO5YaU6 [10:45] Maybe you can notice what I missed. [10:54] Tomasm21, you must be having two (or more) HDMI or VGA ports at the back of your case, so your cable is now plugged into the discrete Nvidia card, turn off the PC completejy, insert the cable into another port (which is attached to the motherboard) and come back here. [10:55] It is connected to display Port of the Gtx 980 card [10:55] monitor [10:55] I have 1 HDMI and 2 displayports [10:56] yep and now we need it to be connected to the intels GPU just for testing purpose. [10:56] 3 display ports and 1 HDMI [10:56] I can't plug monitor to motherboard [10:57] No such connector [10:57] there is svgs port [10:58] svgs port on the motherboard [10:58] but I don't have monitor anymore which had such wire with svga connector [10:59] I have 1 older monitor, I forgot what is its connector [10:59] soon I will check [10:59] Tomasm21, i mean not to the motherboard but to the port other than the nvidia one, we need to load your machine with intel's integrated GPU instead of nvidia, [11:01] hello all [11:01] Cuurent monitor I can only try to connect to 1 of 3 display ports of the NVIDIA GeForce card [11:01] should I try other 2 [11:02] and maybe I have hdmi connector somewhere [11:02] ok lets see [11:04] diogenes, I connected monitor to another graphics card display port which is nearby. was 1/3, now 2/3 [11:04] What to do next [11:04] Tomasm21, there must be a port that comes from the motherboard and maybe that's the HDMI one, i just haven't had a desktop PC in a very veyry long time so it's a bit difficult for me to troubleshoot them hardwarewise because they are built differently [11:05] reboot [11:05] moment.. [11:13] https://imgur.com/a/gA5A3ZY [11:14] identify which ports lead to the motherboard [11:14] rebooting.. [11:15] rebooted [11:17] Tomasm21, inxi -Gxxc0 | grep -i renderer [11:17] just paste here, because it's one line [11:18] OpenGL: renderer: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980/PCIe/SSE2 [11:19] so, all those ports come from the nvidia GPU, then, the integrated one must be the VGA one. [11:20] I have also found 1 wire that 1 connector is hdmi and another display port [11:20] should I test it? [11:22] And I have also found a wire which both connectors are DVI-D [11:23] if it's one of those that you've shown in the pic then it's gonna be nvidia too, but keep in mind, all those manipulations with switching cables back and forth must be done ONLY with the PC turned off [11:23] And I have older monitor in pantry which has dvi-d port [11:23] so don't blame me if something blows up. [11:24] ok next time I will shut down pc [11:25] Should I take older monitor and connect it through dvi-d to gtx980 dvi-d port? [11:25] it will take 5-7 mins [11:26] you can try until you find the right one and, everytime you boot, first you check with this command: inxi -Gxxc0 | grep -i renderer [11:26] but I don't want to work in Linux with older monitor [11:26] if it says nvidia then try another one and so on. [11:26] it's just for testing but of course it's up to you. [11:27] Alright soon I will connct with older monitor connected through dvi-d and check renderer [11:55] Older monitor and dvi-d wire connected to the gtx980 also results to: OpenGL: renderer: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980/PCIe/SSE2 [11:56] But.. [11:56] there is one more port on the back panel [11:56] near SVGA port [11:57] I can try to connect there monitor through dvi-d [11:57] though I heard its rather for printer [11:57] But I will still test [11:58] so all ports on the graphics adapter give nvidia [11:58] maybe make a pic of the back of your PC [11:58] which is normal [11:58] alright doing.. [12:07] diogenes_Vx15, there: https://imgur.com/a/mRW7GVw [12:08] Should I risk and connect monitor to that another higher DVI port? [12:08] Or is it for other purposes [12:11] Tomasm21, i think our conversation is getting too long and maybe for people here boring so i suggest we go to privat message model. [12:11] alright [14:07] hello I forgot my password how do I reset it? [14:34] Hello, I'm new to Xubuntu and linux in general I need help with installing Debian files, when I searched how to install them I found answers that weren't helpful and didn't match up to what i saw on my screen. === lbeaufils6 is now known as lbeaufils
