[01:00] I'm installing on mid 2007 intel base Mac-mini.  It is stuck on grub-install dev/sda.  It was hunting for a place to install grub on different partition. [01:02] Any body install on this old Mac-mini successfully?  How did you do it? [01:03] It called macmini 2,1or something like that. [01:08] Hi.  Anybody here? [01:10] !patience | xubuntu88i [01:10] xubuntu88i: Don't feel ignored and repeat your question quickly; if nobody knows your answer, nobody will answer you. While you wait, try searching https://help.ubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org or https://askubuntu.com/ [01:12] xubuntu88i: Sounds like it's probably an EFI problem. Do you get any further info about why exactly the command failed? [01:12] Also it may be helpful to see your syslog - you can share it with us by running "cat /var/log/syslog | nc termbin.com 9999" in a terminal (without the quotes around it). Then paste the link that command spits out here, and that may help us to see why the installation failed. [01:14] I only know that my mac-mini use 32efi to boot but it is 64 bit machine and i'm installing 64 bit version xubuntu. [01:19] I'm still in the xubuntu installer.  How do I open the terminal? [01:20] It is in the middle of installing but it's stuck. [01:21] Oh. Sadly, mixed-mode EFI is not supported by Ubuntu. [01:21] Ubuntu currently requires a 64-bit EFI and a 64-bit processor. [01:21] There are ways of installing Ubuntu with the 32-bit bootloader, but they are difficult. [01:22] I know that both Debian and Fedora support mixed-mode EFI though (Debian only supports it with its multiarch ISO, I think Fedora supports it by default). Debian is somewhat similar to Ubuntu, so you might be able to use it. [01:23] Oh okay. Thanks for the info. [01:25] xubuntu88i: If you wait a bit, I'll share the link to the Debian multiarch ISO real quick. [01:26] xubuntu88i: https://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current/multi-arch/iso-cd/ [01:26] Thanks.  I appreciate it. === guiverc2 is now known as guiverc [14:54] hi [22:01] Xubuntu 23.04 is now available.
