OvenWerksEickmeyer: yeah something like that. Stay away from laptops that do hdmi out to on the MB hdmi reciever to audio out... they are not very good. But I expect you have better. See some of my comments in email.20:59
OvenWerksEickmeyer: I am assuming the test kernel is for 23.10? Is there an ISO I can DL?21:00
OvenWerksEickmeyer: We took our sailboat out for a few days. It is a new aquistion and because of me falling and cracking ribs... this is the first time taking it out on our own without the previous owner helping get it out of the dock. All went well and we really enjoyed our time.21:03
EickmeyerOvenWerks: Yeah, my laptop that does HDMI out doesn't do it using the CPU but rather using the GPU, which is intereting. And yes, the test kernel is with 23.10, but there's no test .iso yet as those aren't spinning. Andrea works for Canonical's kernel team and is working on this all internally and locally right now.22:03
EickmeyerThe current kernel with 23.10 would be no different than 23.04 at this moment because it's diverging as we speak and not even open yet.22:04
EickmeyerI'm sure he's using 23.04 as a test bed right now.22:04
OvenWerksEickmeyer: I will have to install on my "other" computer then as it only has 22.04. My laptop, even though it should be theoretically faster, feels slow to me, runs out of memory quicker (snap firefox is more memeory hungery?)22:46
OvenWerks*memory22:47
OvenWerksOh, it seems my laptop does not have swap... is swap not recommended on ssd?23:10
EickmeyerOvenWerks: What I'm saying is that we don't have any way of testing right now since he's the only person who has access to it.23:59
EickmeyerOvenWerks: The swap thing was an oversight on my part with Calamares' configuration in 22.04 and 22.10.23:59
