melodiehi can someone help me with my card sound? I can listen but I can't be heard (Xubuntu 22.04). My card sound is "00:1f.3 Audio device: Intel Corporation Cannon Point-LP High Definition Audio Controller (rev 11)" kernel  5.15.0-72-generic and  5.15.0-70 smae result. The headset is alright and the card works (checked in a Windows install as I'm dualbooting). 17:46
melodiePlease can you help me? My colleagues use Ubuntu classic and I could not talk normally during the online metting on jitisi :"-(17:47
melodieI had to use the "skype check tool" to see if it worked elsewhere or with another headset17:48
melodiealso here is the output from "aplay -l" : https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/CbR3KW5M8G/f17:50
gnrpmelodie: When you open the audio mixer, do you see anything under input devices when you speak?19:13
melodiegnrp, yes. The issue might be with the default driver19:27
gnrpah, ok19:27
melodiethis is wh19:27
gnrpand when you choose the according device for the applications that you want to record with?19:27
melodieI don't want to record19:27
melodieusing jitis19:27
melodiewant to be heard19:28
melodieJitsi.com19:28
melodiemeet.jit.se19:28
gnrpwell, it is the same19:28
melodieif you say so :)19:29
gnrpwhen you open the browser and point it to that website, under record or so (don't know the exact english term) in the mixer applet, you can select which device they shall use19:29
melodieyes yes, audio is allowed in Firefox19:29
melodiegnrp, which country are you from? Which one is your native language?19:31
gnrpmelodie: German19:58
gnrpmelodie: It is not about what is allowed in Firefox, but what input device it is set to20:00
PeGaSuShello folks. this might be something unique: I'm moving a Xubuntu install (one HDD) to another computer. the dead computer had Secure Boot enabled, Intel CPU, etc.. this PC also has Secure Boot but an AMD CPU. will my Xubuntu boot?20:11
tomreynPeGaSuS: if you disable secure boot, it should21:13
tomreynthat's if you also copied the boot loader or have a separate one, and configured the 'bios' to use it21:14
PeGaSuSit booted without even removing Secure Boot on this HP EliteDesk.. I'm now updating the system with "sudo apt update" and things seems to be going well 21:17
PeGaSuSnow I wonder if it will understand that this PC has a WiFi and Bluetooth card while the other one hadn't 21:19
PeGaSuSI have a stupid question: if I try to install Xubuntu on the disk without erasing it, will it keep any settings? or it will just erase everything?21:26
PeGaSuSapparently it's not detecting the wireless card.. any ideas?21:36
tomreynit would have detected it if it was fully supported21:43
tomreynfind out which wireless chipset it is first of all21:43
tomreynsudo lspci -knnv    or    sudo lsusb   should tell21:44
PeGaSuStomreyn: https://termbin.com/gm3i21:49
PeGaSuSoutput of `sudo lspci -knnv`21:49
tomreynPeGaSuS: so this is your wireless chipset: 06:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Intel Corporation Wireless-AC 9260 [8086:2526] (rev 29)21:53
PeGaSuSapparently, yes21:53
tomreynit would use "Kernel modules: iwlwifi", but for some reason this was not loaded. which kernel are you using, which xubuntu version? how did you boot?21:53
tomreynsurprisingly, many of the other hardware components also have a matching driver detected but not loaded, that's quite unusual.21:54
PeGaSuSI just booted into the old disk, and it booted without issues21:55
tomreynpossibly dues to secureboot21:55
tomreynactually most likely due to that. you'll probably need to enroll the mok, yet21:55
PeGaSuSi did enrolled the MOK. at least it asked me for a password 21:57
tomreynand yet all those drivers aren't loaded21:58
PeGaSuSany idea how to re-enroll or something?21:59
tomreynhttps://wiki.ubuntu.com/UEFI/SecureBoot22:00
tomreynyou use the "mokutil" command to manage certs22:01
tomreynif any need yet to be installed, that should happen (be prompted for) during next reboot22:02
PeGaSuShum.. sudo update-secureboot-policy --enroll-key says "Nothing to do"22:04
PeGaSuS`sudo update-secureboot-policy --new-key` gives no output whatsoever22:09
PeGaSuSSorry, I need to go afk for a bit22:17
PeGaSuSso, after another reboot I have WiFi and Bluetooth22:41
