[09:54] not exactly, you'll end up with different packages installed. for example, ubuntu server comes with cloud-init and netplan and uses systemd-networkd for network management by default, whereas the xubuntu installation would setup network manager and not install cloud-init or netplan. [10:18] OK, Thanks. I saw that. [10:22] Where can I found detail on how the iso is built? From https://unit193.net/xubuntu/ it seems it should start from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/MinimalCD + a meta-package [12:13] According to some rapid search I made I can see this post: https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/poll-about-possible-netboot-mini-iso-revival-in-future-ubuntu-releases/19457 [12:14] So it seems that the minial iso is beeing removed. latest 20.04 if I'm right. So I'm now searching how to build Xubuntu-core :-) [12:14] an updated one :-) [13:06] Umm, just use the one provided by xubuntu.org? [13:08] It's not updated by me anymore because it doesn't need to be... [13:10] Unit193, according to https://xubuntu.org/news/xubuntu-23-04-released/ in the latest xubuntu release notes, they discuss that there are now "minimal" images. [13:10] It this image supported? Can it be rebuilt with custom stuff? === keypushe- is now known as keypusher [15:59] I'm using Discord v0.0.27 from both the official DEB package and the snap. Neither of these show a tray icon and if I minimize Discord it disappears and I have to kill and restart it to get the window back. Any reason this might be happening? [16:00] (forgot to mention, Xubuntu 22.04 LTS, all packages are current) [16:22] rudyvalencia, i don't remember exactly but i suppose that version required a separate systray plugin (can't remember the exact name) and also check if the discord tray icon is not marked as "hidden". [16:23] Someone said that but it looks like a GNOME plugin, not an XFCE one [16:25] rudyvalencia, it's a XFCE plugin, alternatively you could try other systray plugins like: stalonetray and see whether you get a better result with that one. [16:25] Apparently it's supposedly related to ayatana-indicator-application [16:26] brb gonna test it [16:26] you don't need ayatana stuff. [16:26] https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-panel/-/issues/599#note_60793 [16:26] -ubottu:#xubuntu- Issue 599 in xfce/xfce4-panel "[Bug] icons do not reliably show up in systray" [Closed] [16:26] OK testing now [16:29] So that didn't work [16:29] what didn't work? [16:29] Removing ayatana-indicator-application [16:30] Now Remmina doesn't have its tray icon [16:30] Nor does TeamViewer [16:31] rudyvalencia, i think it was called notificatuin area, check this out: https://docs.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-panel/systray [16:32] I don't seem to have one like that [16:32] It appears to be called Status Tray Plugin [16:32] and I already have that in my panel [16:33] ok but do you get any tray icons at all? [16:33] I get HexChat and Bluetooth icons [16:35] No Discord, Teamviewer or Remmina icons though [16:38] rudyvalencia, ok i've just tested this discord appimage and it has a tray icon: https://github.com/srevinsaju/discord-appimage/releases/download/stable/Discord-0.0.27-x86_64.AppImage [16:38] what kind of packaging is that? I've never used appimage [16:39] appimages are like application with all the dependencies in the package itself so it'a like a portable app. [16:39] ah [16:39] https://github.com/srevinsaju/discord-appimage/releases [16:40] there is all the info ^^^ [16:41] Interesting, I don't get it here [16:41] I wonder if it's because I'm using an SSSD-managed domain account [16:43] rudyvalencia, run in terminal: grep ^ /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/* | nc termbin.com 9999 [16:43] share the url [16:43] This is rudyvalencia just on my cellphone [16:44] https://termbin.com/tgsrk [16:46] Works fine on a local (non-domain) account [16:46] ok [16:46] I also see a warning every time I log in with any account [16:48] "System program problem detected / Do you want to report the problem now? / [ ❌ Cancel ] [ Report problem... ]" [16:49] rudyvalencia2, you can run in terminal: cat .xsession-errors [16:49] and see if you can hunt down any errora there, because that [16:49] a lot of reading. [16:49] Okay [16:50] Logging back into my domain user profile [16:50] actually better run: cat .xsession-errors | more [16:54] Found something in Discord's output to a terminal: [16:56] "IBUS-WARNING **: 10:53:19.993: Failed to mkdir /home/domainuser.DOMAIN/snap/discord/153/.config/ibus/bus: Not a directory" [16:57] rudyvalencia2, have you tried the appimage i've given you? [16:58] Yes, it doesn't have the IBus error but it also does not show a tray icon [16:59] well it works on a different account so you the problem might be in your .config/xfce4 directory [17:00] I installed IBus and the GTK 2/3/4 support and it's working but now I see extra keyboard indicators in my tray [17:00] you can hide that one. [17:01] Yeah found that [17:02] All good here. I think IBus was making Discord skip its icon creation routine. [17:02] *the lack of IBus [17:03] Ayatana wasn't the issue either *strokes chin* [17:03] no i-bus here and it still works, i don't think that's the issue. [17:03] Okay something must've gone wrong with my profile then [17:04] But now it's fine, strangely enough [17:06] *goes off to do other important things* === TiZ922679 is now known as TiZ92267 [18:44] Hej my screen shuts off even when on youtube [18:45] maybe 10-15 min [19:36] hello? === tomg_ is now known as tomg
