tomreynBracho_desu: with 1 GB RAM, you won't really be running much other than ubuntu server. you can probably start a graphical interface, but as soon as you'll try to surf the web, it'll be game over.01:08
tomreynthere are other linux distributions which have lower requirements, but the web browser issue will probably remain (for any current web browser)01:10
* guiverc suspects tomreyn doesn't consider lynx a current web browser :(01:32
tomreynabout as much as curl or stallman's wget automation01:33
guiverc:)  (there are a number of websites where I prefer lynx... all I want is the text to read...)01:34
tomreynYou mean the "Please enable Javascript." text?02:52
tomreynthere's still carbonyl, though, if you have another computer that's faster.02:54
tomreyn^Wbetter equipped-02:55
towserI'm having issues with this old laptop running Lubuntu, idle is seem to use around 60-70% of the cpu and it runs slowly, if anyone knows how to make it work better please let me know12:30
lubot[telegram] <Michaël> What laptop is it?12:48
lubot[telegram] <Michaël> Did you check the processes that uses up all that resources?12:48
towserGateway MA7- old laptop12:52
lubot[telegram] <Michaël> Too old to run Lubuntu if you ask me. 12:58
lubot[telegram] <Michaël> You’ll need a more specialised Linux distro. One that utilises almost no resources. Antix Lunix for instance12:58
towserI have a copy of Absoult Linux that apparently is super lightweight13:01
towsermaybe that would run better13:03
lubot[telegram] <Michaël> What Linux distro works best for you will require a little bit of research and some experiments13:24
VickiHello everyone.  I live in Bath in the UK.  I run a small charity that supports a girl school in Uganda.  Because there is a ban on the import of old computers into Uganda - I have relied on carrying out old laptops and leaving them there.  A lovely volunteer used to wipe donated laptops down and put on Lubuntu with Tux Games eg Maths and the17:11
Vickigirls just love them.  We have a full time IT teacher at the school - no internet connection but he has really liked Lubunut and had given us years of good service.  We have about 20 laptops at the moment (600 girls) Our volunteer has moved abroad and I am struggling to get lubuntu on to the laptops - I have done a USB stick but I think there are17:11
Vickipartition problems and I cannot get on to the internet to install the fund games that the girls love.  Is there by any chance someone out there who lives close to Bath you can help with these installations ….about 5 laptops at the moment - my next trip is in mid July - Thanks Vicki17:11
